Freshly Made Sketches #515

Hey Everyone

There is a new sketch challenge to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer is the fabulously talented Karren Johnson. Karren’s sketch is as cool as the backgrounds she creates!

This card started with choosing a stamp set. It’s been ages since I’ve used the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set. I then chose the DSP. The strip of DSP is from the Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. The remainder of my colours were chosen to compliment the Blackberry Bliss in the paper.

The poinsettias were given colour with the Blackberry Bliss Blends. I took the Colour Lifter and diluted a lot of the ink so the colour wasn’t as solid. Both of these flowers were then fussy cut out.

The leaves were given colour with the Soft Succulent Blends. Again I used the Colour Lifter to lighten the colour. The leaves were also fussy cut out. The little branches of nuts were stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with Soft Suede Ink.

The Basic White Cardstock in the background was embossed with the Gingham Embossing Folder. I love the texture this folder gives the cardstock. This embossing folder will be available for customers to order from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue.

I matted this piece of cardstock with Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. I took an off cut piece of Kraft Cardstock that was sitting on my desk and added this under the DSP. Three Champagne Basic Rhinestone Jewels were then added for that bit of glitziness that I love.

Our team have created wonderful cards. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #562

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week is inspiration picture week. Take a look at the festive pic we have for you. You can either choose to go with Christmas or just use the colours to create your projects.

I went with a Christmas card. I seem to be on a roll with them at the moment.

The stamp set I’ve featured on my card is called Poinsettia Petals. The matching Poinsettia Dies make light work of this card. The images have been coloured with a mix of Real Real and Cherry Cobbler Blends. I coloured the leaves with the Soft Succulent Blends and the little stems of nuts with Soft Suede Blends.

I embossed the background piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder and quickly roughed up the edges of it with my finger. I wanted to add some more interest to the card – because why not? – so I added some retired ribbon and stapled the end before pulling the ribbon end apart to give it a vintage-y kind of feel. Three Gold Metallic Pearls finished off the card.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards that will inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Poinsettia Place Suite

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the latest Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop.  This month we are showcasing projects we’ve made with products from the Poinsettia Place Suite.

All of the products in this suite are AMAZING! I’ve been making a heap of cards with the Poinsettia Place Stamp Set, so this time I wanted to show off the pretty and perfectly coloured poinsettias that you can trim from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper pack.  I also trimmed the leafy stem and pine cones images from the DSP and adhered them to my card.  The large leaves that I’ve paired with my poinsettia are stamped with the leaf images from the Poinsettia Place Stamp Set. They’ve been coloured with my Mint Macaron Blends.

I cut the card base with a Rectangle Stitched Die and daubed Sahara Sand Ink on the Thick Whisper White Cardstock. To add some texture, I ran this piece through my embossing machine with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I then added a combination of papers from the Poinsettia Place DSP pack. Once I was happy with the layering of my poinsettias and sentiment, I then took my favourite Braided Linen Thread and layered it amongst the flower and leaves. Three Gold Glitter Enamel Dots finished off this card.

Like my first card, my poinsettias are trimmed from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper and the leaves are stamped from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set.  For this card, I added some stamped holly berries that have been cut with the Poinsettia Dies.

The DSP I’ve added to the base of my card is also from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper pack. I took a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock and daubed the edges before using my fingernail to rough up the cardstock.  One Gold Enamel Glimmer Dot was added to this card.

For my third card, I created my own poinsettia’s by cutting some poinsettia die cuts with the Poinsettia Dies. I took my Water Painter and some Sahara Sand Ink and added colour to the die cuts, adding a darker shade to the centre of the flowers.  I couldn’t resist adhering Beaded Pearls to the centre of the die cuts to make them pretty and bling-y. I kept my layering simple with this card to let the poinsettias shine.

I hope you like the projects I’ve created with these products. Make sure you check out all the wonderful projects the team have created. The next hop along the way is my very talented friend Nina Waldschmidt with her creations. Click here to take you to her blog or on the button below.

Global Design Project #254

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today is for the challenge at the Global Design Project.  This week their challenge is a sketch challenge.

I’m on a Christmas card making roll.  It’s easy to do when I’ve got so many sets that I love creating with.  The stamp set I’ve used is called Poinsettia Petals.  I originally had the large poinsettia’s all coloured up ready to use, but when I placed them on my card, I felt they were a little bit too big.  So I stamped up four of the little ones and coloured them with a combination of Petal Pink and Calypso Coral Blends. The centre of them were coloured the the Dark Mango Melody Blend. I fussy cut them out and layered them with two images each stacked on each other.

The leaves for these poinsettia’s were cut with the Forever Flourishing Dies that I had discarded from another project and were siting on my desk.  I also had the Soft Suede Ink berries discarded from yet another project that I added to the card.  Love it when I can use up images and die cuts rather than bin them.

The background of my card has been daubed with Sahara Sand Ink and over this, I stamped the ink splatters image in Soft Suede Ink from the Forever Fern Stamp Set. I added a strip of DSP from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper and added a sentiment from the Joy Dies and Peace & Joy Stamp Set.

Thanks for stopping by.
