Just Add Ink #521

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge over at Just Add Ink.  This week is an inspiration picture challenge. Take a look at the pretty pic we have for you:

I’ve created a card using the colours, the flowers and the jars from the picture.  The jars I’ve added to my card are from the Jar of Flowers Stamp Set.  I stamped the images in Black Memento Ink and coloured the jars with some retired Rose Gold Shimmer Paint.

The flower image that I’ve used on my card is also from the Jar of Flowers Stamp Set. I’ve lightly coloured the image the Light Crumb Cake Blend. The leaves have been given some colour with my Call Me Clover Blends. I then took some Call Me Clover Cardstock and cut some leaves with the Forever Flourishing Dies. The sentiment I’ve added is from the Forever Fern Stamp Set – we could all use a sentiment like this for those friends at the moment.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using the inspiration picture from the challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #451

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and this weeks sketch hostess is me! I’ve created a simple sketch but doesn’t mean I’ve kept my card simple. I LOVE details and layering.

The Flowering Blooms Stamp Set has been one I’ve been itching to use. The flowers in this stamp set were made for colouring. I’ve given the larger blooms some colour with Purple Posy and Highland Heather Blends.  The smaller flowers have been coloured with my Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends. The leaves have been shaded with Mint Macaron Blends. The flowers and leaves have all been fussy cut and layered on DSP from Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment I’ve used is also from the Flowering Blooms Stamp Set. Three Basic Rhinestone Jewels were added because my cards just aren’t complete without them.

Make sure you head over to the challenge and see the gorgeous creations the team have created with my sketch.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #387 & TGIF Challenge #279

Hey Everyone

I wasn’t done with my craft room after my earlier post. I headed back out there and looked around for challenges to keep creating. I didn’t think I had two more cards in me this afternoon, so I found two challenges and combined them for one card. The challenges I’ve entered are CAS(E) this Sketch and TGIF Challenge. Here are their challenge pics:

I love a bit of height to my cards.  In fact, it’s quite common for my cards to have four layers or even double-dimensionalise to get extra height. For the 3D element to this card, I created rolled roses – plus I think I’ve dimensionalised every layer as well.  The little flower and leaf images and sentiment are from the Fancy Phrases Stamp Set.  The images have been fussy cut and adhered with dimensionals.

The layout for this card is for the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  I love me a good sketch and this one is just fabulous. The background of my card has been colour with the Light Petal Pink Blend. You can’t quite see the strip of DSP I’ve added to my card, but there is a strip of Peony Garden DSP under the sentiment and cluster of roses.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #255

Hey Everyone

I have to say, I’m actually enjoying my lockdown weekends. Only being allowed out to go to the supermarket and one hour of exercise a day, means more time in my craft room!  If only I could bring myself to clean it……

I’ve managed to play along with the latest challenge at Global Design Project. Take a look at their fab challenge:

I could’ve used pretty much all of my Stampin’ Up! Sets in my craft room for this challenge, as they almost all have leaves in them!  The set I’ve chosen is called Forever Fern Stamp Set.  The leaf images that I’ve stamped, in Mint Macaron and Smoky Slate, have been fussy cut and layered about the sentiment – also from the Forever Fern Stamp Set.  I love that this set also has background ink splatters – you can never have to many ink splatter stamps!

The designer series paper I’ve roughed up is from the Peony Gardens Designer Series Paper pack.  I also roughed up the edges of a piece of Mint Macaron Cardstock to layer underneath.  I added some Linen Thread strips and a Linen Thread Bow to finish off my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #450

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by my friend Karren Johnson – all the way over the other side of the ditch from me. One day I will get to see her beautiful country and touch all the sets she has in her craft room.

I went for a bit of fun with those circles. We could all use a smile couldn’t we? I saw letters instead of circle could be used and tried to think of abbreviations with three letters. After a couple of mishaps with letters that would be a tad rude if I’d used them, I came up with FMS! This card is for my girls at  Freshly  Made Sketches!

I’ve combined the letters with some foliage, because I had to give it some fullness.  The leaves I’ve stamped are from the Forever Fern Stamp Set.  They’ve been stamped in Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Inks. The designer series paper I’ve added to the background is from the Peony Garden DSP pack.

The rhinestones I’ve added to my card have been coloured with the Dark Bermuda Bay Blend so that they could match the colour scheme I created.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using Karren’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge to see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #254

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today is for the challenge at the Global Design Project.  This week their challenge is a sketch challenge.

I’m on a Christmas card making roll.  It’s easy to do when I’ve got so many sets that I love creating with.  The stamp set I’ve used is called Poinsettia Petals.  I originally had the large poinsettia’s all coloured up ready to use, but when I placed them on my card, I felt they were a little bit too big.  So I stamped up four of the little ones and coloured them with a combination of Petal Pink and Calypso Coral Blends. The centre of them were coloured the the Dark Mango Melody Blend. I fussy cut them out and layered them with two images each stacked on each other.

The leaves for these poinsettia’s were cut with the Forever Flourishing Dies that I had discarded from another project and were siting on my desk.  I also had the Soft Suede Ink berries discarded from yet another project that I added to the card.  Love it when I can use up images and die cuts rather than bin them.

The background of my card has been daubed with Sahara Sand Ink and over this, I stamped the ink splatters image in Soft Suede Ink from the Forever Fern Stamp Set. I added a strip of DSP from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper and added a sentiment from the Joy Dies and Peace & Joy Stamp Set.

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Peace and Joy Bundle

Hey Everyone

Hello stamping friends. It’s time for the latest Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!

This month the team have created  projects using products from the Peace and Joy Bundle. This bundle is available to order form the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue.  Having these products early means that hopefully I will be ready with all of my Christmas cards and gift packaging.

We have all created three projects using this fabulous bundle. For each of our projects, we have created the following:

  • One sample using the Peace and Joy Stamp set only.
  • The second project using dies only from the Joy Dies.
  • And the third with both the stamp set and the dies.

To create my first card, I stamped various leaves from the Peace and Joy Stamp Set in Soft Sea Foam and Just Jade Inks. To create the washed background, I took my Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and coloured some Whisper White Cardstock. As you can see, I cut this piece around a third of the way down and added a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock and torn Midnight Muse Cardstock underneath it.

I’ve used a combination of sentiments from the Peace and Joy Stamp Set.  I really love this combo of a large script-y sentiment and a solid background with white typed sentiment. I added some Braided Linen Trim and layered my circles over the top.  I then took the fussy cut leaves, berries and adhered them around the main sentiment.  Three white gems from the Flowers for Every Season Gems finished off this card.

The second project I’ve made is a shaker card using the Joy Dies. I started off with cutting a square piece of Whisper White Cardstock and a solid sentiment die. By using the solid sentiment for the shaker window, this then allowed me to cut the thin sentiment in Midnight Muse Cardstock to layer over my window sheet. I’ve probably thrown in way too many sequins, from the Sequins for Everything pack, behind the sentiment. I always either have too many sequins and then the next time, not enough….

To pair with my first card, I added a washed background with the Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and added a torn strip of Just Jade Cardstock. I also used three gems from the Flowers For Every Season Gems to bling up my card.

For my third and final project, I added texture and interest to the background by cutting multiple sentiments in Whisper White Cardstock and adhering them to the card base. I cut two circles, one in Midnight Muse Cardstock and the other in Whisper White Cardstock, with the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch. Keeping off-cut strips of cardstock is so handy when you need to tie in colours to maintain a consistency with your projects. I’ve added a Just Jade Cardstock strip to this card.

Because I LOVE Braided Linen Trim as if it were one of my own children, I couldn’t resist adding it to this card too. For the sentiment, I used the solid and thin sentiments dies for this card. I also added a stamped sentiment because I liked the solid typed font.  I then repeated the stamping I did for my first card with the same leaves and colours. This time only one gem was added – didn’t want to overpower the stamping with too much bling!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the cards I’ve made using the Peace and Joy Bundle. I loved playing with these fabulous products, not only because they’re gorgeous, but it’s given me more cards that I’ve added to my Christmas card stash.

Just Add Ink #519

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge is for you to:

I went with a clean, quick and easy Christmas card with these colours.  My images and sentiment are from the Tag Buffet Stamp Set. I coloured the baubles and the stocking with Purple Posy and Misty Moonlight. I gave the leaves a very light colour with Seaside Spray Ink and fussy cut them out. I then daubed the card base with Seaside Spray Ink and layered my images.  The sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from the Tag Buffet Stamp Set. I trimmed around this sentiment and cut it  in half to place next to the my images.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using the colours. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #449

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Wednesday and the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by the fabulous Cecile Ribon! I love Cecile’s sketches as they are always so interesting and really test me.

The Prized Peony Stamp Set came to mind when I saw her sketch. I’ve paired my peony image with a piece of DSP the matching Peony Garden Designer Series Paper pack.  I cut a piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock into the same triangle shape so that I had two triangles. You may notice I don’t have a third triangle. This was because whichever colour I tried to add didn’t quite fit with me, so I added stamping to mimic the third triangle.  This background stamping was done with the geometric background stamp found in the Prized Peony Stamp Set and Gray Granite Ink.

The flower that I have created, has been coloured with my Pool Party Blends.  I then took the Light Bermuda Bay and Dark Smoky Slate Blends and added colour to the crease lines to create depth to the flower.  The centre of the flower has been given a quick colour with the Dark So Saffron Blend.

The leaves that I have added to my card were discarded from another project. I’ve had them sitting on my desk for a few weeks and rather than throw them out, I’ve given them a home on my card.  These leaves were created by taking some Pool Party Ink with my Aqua Painter and adding it to some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Once the paper dried, I took the leaf die from the Forever Flourishing Dies and cut out two leaves.

As always, the girls at Freshly Made Sketches have created the most awesome cards. To be inspired by their awesomeness, head over to the blog and check out their cards.

Freshly Made Sketches #448

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jennifer Brum. Her creations are always just stunning and super clean.

Stampin’ Up! have gorgeous packs of designer series papers that have wonderful images made for fussy cutting.  These perfectly coloured leaves are from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper pack. The strip of DSP I’ve added behind these leaves is also from this pack.

The sentiment I chose to add is from the matching stamp set called Forever Fern Stamp Set. I’ve got a friend in mind for this card who makes me smile every day at work. I coloured the background with the Light Soft Sea Foam Blend and added some ink splatters in Garden Green Ink from the Forever Fern Stamp Set.

I then added some gems from the Flowers For Every Season Gems to tie in with my greenery.  Some Braided Linen Trim was added under the sentiment to match the Sahara Sand Cardstock base.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards using this weeks sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
