Freshly Made Sketches #484

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. Love me a sketch challenge and this one that the fabulous Amy O’Neill has created is amazing! Make sure you pop over to Amy’s blog to see her wonderful creations.

I chose to create a birthday card for one of my great nieces who is turning 2 soon. I have coloured these cute puffins from the Party Puffins Stamp Set. They are so cute and probably a stamp set that I wouldn’t normally buy, but because of their total sweetness, I had to have it.

I gave them some colour with my blends and then fussy cut them out. I added a cake and lil fishy images from the same stamp set to add some more fun to her card. The sentiment I’ve layered on the card is also from the Party Puffins Stamp Set. I can’t wait to give it to her now, once I buy a pressie that is……

The team have created awesome cards using Amy’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #552

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with over at Just Add Ink. This week is an inspiration picture challenge. Take a look at the bright challenge we have for you:

As you can see, I’ve taken inspiration from the flowers in the picture as well as the colours. The stamp set I’ve used for my flowers is called Art Gallery Stamp Set. I stamped the base layer of the flower with Daffodil Delight Ink and the second layer with Pale Papaya Ink. The leafy images, also from the Arty Gallery Stamp set have been stamped with Soft Succulent Ink and fussy cut out.

The strip of DSP I’ve added to my card is from the Hand Penned Memories and More Pack. This pack is not only for scrapbooking, you can use the many pieces to add to your cards.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards, all so very different using elements from the inspiration pic. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #483

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. It was my turn to design a sketch. Here’s what I came up with:

Not totally loving my card. I panicked and just went with some flowers that I had discarded from another project. Next time I’ll take the time and re-think my colour choices….

The stamp set I’ve chosen is called Hand Penned Petals Stamp Set. I’ve given the flowers some colour with the Pale Papaya Blends (available next week for everyone to buy in the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue). The leaves have been coloured with the Soft Succulent Blends. I already know I’m going to be addicted to this colour.

The teat at Freshly Made Sketches have made my sketch look good. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #482

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This weeks cool sketch has been designed by our wonderfully talented NZer, Karren Johnson. Pop over to Karren’s blog and see what she’s designed with her sketch:

When you have a weekend away and that’s your usual crafting time, you go quick and easy by colouring some DSP and fussy cutting the images out. The designers series paper I’ve used is from the True Love DSP pack. The blends I coloured my images with were the Balmy Blue Blends. I then took the Light Night of Navy Blend to the centre of the flower to add some depth. The leaves have been coloured with the Mint Macaron Blends.

I wanted a birthday sentiment, so I’ve added one from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome and totally different cards with Karren’s sketch. Pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and check them out.

Just Add Ink #550

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is a colour challenge. Have a look at the colours we have for you to play along with:

So this is a colour combo that I would have NEVER tried if not for this challenge. I have to say that I absolutely adore it! I’ve kept my card mostly white with small amounts of the challenge colours.

I’ve chosen leaves stamped from the Forever Fern Stamp Set. The leaves were lightly coloured with Shaded Spruce and fussy cut out. The butterflies are from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set. These have been coloured with both Poppy Parade and Petal Pink Inks. The sentiment I’ve used is from the Forever Friend Stamp Set. I added some ink splatters to the background – these are from the Forever Fern Stamp Set also.

The team at Just Add Ink have created lovely cards using these challenge colours. Take a look at the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #481

Hey Everyone

When you’re stuck for a layout, try finding a fabulous sketch challenge like this weeks one at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch has been designed by the super talented Cecile Ribon

.

The stamp set I chose to use for my card was the Dressed To Impressed Stamp Set. I added Highland Heather highlights to the flowers, lipstick and stiletto with my light and dark blends. I then combined added Smoky Slate Blends to each of these images. I took my Colour Lifter and removed some of the colour from all images to give them a washed look.

The background of card base has been given a quick colour with my Soft Sea Foam Blend. I added some Whisper White Cardstock circles and probably spent waaaaay to long arranging my images until I ended up with this layout.

Freshly Made Sketches #480

Hey Everyone

Don’t you love a cool sketch? I do! I adore this sketch from one of our fabulous designers at Freshly Made Sketches, Jennifer Brum. I also adore her – even if she does put me to shame with all the walking she does…..

I had some time on the weekend to play around with my blends. What better stamp set to use than the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set when you want some colouring time?

The largest shell was coloured firstly with the Crumb Cake Blends. I then took the Dark Soft Suede Blend and added a darker shade around the edge of the shell and in the definition lines. I wasn’t happy with just those colours, so I added some Pool Party to the mix. The medium sized shell was coloured with the Pool Party Blends and the Light Basic Black Blend in the creases. The smallest shell was coloured with a combination of Dark Crumb Cake and both Soft Suede Blends. Once all three shells were dry, they were then given some Wink of Stella to add a shine to them.

I used the Curvy Dies to create the die cut in the middle of my Whisper White Cardstock. I had the idea to add some Linen Trim to the edge of the die cut. I ran some Tombow Glue along the cardstock and carefully glued down the Linen Trim. For once I didn’t end up with sticky fingers and accidentally leave glue residue on the card. I also added a Linen Trim bow under the cluster of shells.

After placing everything on the card, I felt the background needed a little something extra, so I lifted the large and small shell and added the ink splatter stamp with Crumb Cake Ink and randomly stamped it. Any mishap with the stamping, on an already stuck card base, was covered by creatively placing the shells to hide it.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch. Click here to take you to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #548

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge over at Just Add Ink to play along with. This week is a sketch week. Take a look at the cool sketch we have for you:

The Geared Up Garage Stamp Set is retiring soon and I was reminded I needed to stock up on masculine cards. The vintage car image was stamped in Black Memento Ink and watercoloured with light shading of Mossy Meadow Ink. I’ve adhered a piece of Basic Black Cardstock to a Crumb Cake Cardstock card base. I then stamped a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with the grungy stamp in Crumb Cake Ink.

Once the layered were stuck down, I added a strip of Mossy Meadow Cardstock, Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim, a Whisper White Cardstock circle and a die cut piece from the Garage Gear Dies. Once this piece was cut out, I took a Journalling Pen and drew a line around the edge of the cardstock. The sentiment, also from the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set, finished off the card.

As always, the team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #479

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday and that means we have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch is a fun one and has been designed by the super talented Kim Singdahlsen.

I have a new-to-me stamp set called Art Gallery Stamp Set. This set is a two-step stamping set. The base colour I’ve stamped my flower in is Gray Granite Ink. I then stamped over the top with the second part of the stamp image with Basic Gray Ink. I fussy cut the flowers out and added Metallic Pearls to the centre of both flowers to make them bling-y. The leaves I’ve added to my card have been stamped with Mossy Meadow Ink – these have also been fussy cut out.

The piece of background cardstock was discarded from a previous project. I had randomly stamp this piece in Smoky Slate Ink with the geographic background stamp from Prized Peony Stamp Set. I thought it would work well as a background for these blooms. I added a torn piece of Whisper White Cardstock and a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock to fit the design of the sketch.

I also added a strip of Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim that I have stretched apart and adhered with Glue Dots. The sentiment I added is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have made wonderful cards using this weeks sketch – pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #546

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is to:

This is such an interesting challenge and one that tested me. I had to google exactly what it meant.

My card has been created with the Garage Gear Dies as the main focus on my card. I had a senior moment (even though I’m not at the senior age) and forgot to add the pretty butterflies I created to add on the card. I only realised after I’d photographed it and loaded it to our page. Too late to add them and take another photograph after a long day at work….

To create the background I took a die cut Forever Gold Laser-Cut Speciality piece and daubed randomly over the top of the white side with Soft Suede Ink. I then took the script words stamp from the Very Versailles Stamp Set and stamped twice in Crumb Cake Ink. To finish off the background piece of cardstock, I took a Blending Brush and added Crumb Cake Ink to the roughed up edges. I matted this with a piece of Pool Party Cardstock, also roughed up.

I took some Linen Thread and stapled the ends of the thread to the cardstock and wrapped the other end around my cardstock. I then stuck it all together and adhered the layers to a Sahara Sand Cardstock base. The pearls that finished off my card have been coloured with the Light Bermuda Bay Blend.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards for this challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.
