TGIF #377 – Christmas In July Challenge

Hey Everyone

I was a little bit more than pleased to see I was chosen as last weeks winner at TGIF Challenges! Thanks for the challenge love ladies!

This week their challenge is a Christmas In July Challenge.

The card I’ve made has non-traditional Christmas colours. I like to mix up my cards and create with traditional and non-traditional combinations.

The colours I’ve used for my holly leaves are Pool Party and Smoky Slate Inks. I then used the same colours on my branches of holly. These have been coloured with my blends. The stamped leaves are from the Leaves of Holly Stamp Set.

The background Basic White Cardstock has been given detail with a dauber, Smoky Slate Ink and Artistic Mix Decorative Masks. I love the background it gives to my holly leaves. I had cut a strip of DSP from the Perfectly Pencilled DSP pack for an earlier project, so the end of that piece was added to this card.

A Gray Granite Ribbon bow was tied on my fingers to create a double bow and adhered under the corner of the sentiment.

The sentiment I’ve inked up in Pool Party, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate Inks is from the Jingle Jingle Jingle Stamp Set. I stamped the patterned sentiment and fussy cut the letters out. I then stamped the hollow sentiment, added some dimensionals to the letters and layered them layered over the “jolly”.

Global Design Project #351

Hey Everyone

I find I craft more in Winter and when I have new products to play with. The weather was cold enough to keep me inside all weekend!

I found that challenge at Global Design Project is a themed challenge that I wanted to play along with. Here’s their inspiration pic:

I find circles the easiest to work with. I cut heaps of Basic White Cardstock circles and embossed them with the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. To add a little interest to the background, I took my Blending Brush and Daffodil Delight Ink and roughly shaded the Basic White Cardstock. I then layered the embossed circles on the background with Dimensionals.

The strip of striped DSP is from the Perfectly Pencilled Designer Series Paper Pack. The flowers and leaves are also from the DSP. I fussy cut them out and coloured them with my Daffodil Delight Blends and Soft Sea Foam Blends.

I looked for a stamp set that had just the right sentiment as I wanted it to fit in a circle also. This sentiment is from the Cottage Rose Sentiment. Love the way these different fonts work together.

To finish off the card I added a Gold and Vanilla Satin Edge Ribbon bow. This ribbon is just divine!

Freshly Made Sketches #544

Hey Everyone

Ready for a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches? This week our sketch has been designed by the talented Queen of Backgrounds, Karren Johnson.

Love getting me some new goodies! My recent order consisted of the Boughs of Holly Suite. Oh I am loving everything in this suite!

The pretty papers are from the Boughs of Holly Designer Series Paper pack. This pack has traditional Christmas colours as well as some Gray Granite.

The leaf images are from the Leaves of Holly Stamp Set. I’ve stamped the leaves in Crumb Cake Ink and then Mossy Meadow Ink over the top. The leaves were then fussy cut out.

The branches of holly have been coloured with Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow Blends. There are 20 of the holly branches in the Textural Elements. The sentiment I’ve used is from the Leaves of Holly Stamp Set also. This sentiment has been die cut with a die from the matching Holly Berry Dies.

Lastly, a Gray Granite Ribbon bow was added as I love my cards being OTT in detail.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

TGIF Challenges #376

Hey Everyone

Sketch challenges are my fav and my go-to as the starting point to any card. The sketch at TGIF Challenges is a fabulous one and had me reaching for my new Trees for Sale Stamp Set and matching Tree Lot Dies.

I would never have thought I’ve love a caravan die set, but I totally love these Tree Lot Dies and couldn’t wait to use them. So I managed to make them work for the sketch.

I cut the caravan in Basic White Cardstock and then another one in Basic Gray Cardstock. I cut the tire and the axel from the second diecut. I then took the dies for the top and bottom detail and cut these with some Pool Party Cardstock. The wreath was then cut with Bermuda Bay and Cherry Cobbler Cardstocks.

The trees (from the Trees for Sale Stamp Set) have been stamped with Pool Party Ink and Bermuda Bay Ink with the two step stamping images. These trees have then been cut out with the dies from the Tree Lot Dies.

I didn’t stop there. I die cut a light pole with Basic Gray Cardstock and stamped up some lights and coloured the globes with the Dark Mango Melody Blend. There’s a die to cut these out also!

The mountains in the back have been cut the Majestic Mountain Dies and I used a dauber to add some Crumb Cake Ink to the top of them. I then added a torn piece of Pool Party Cardstock across the bottom of the card.

The sentiment is from the Leaves of Holly Stamp Set. This sentiment fit my card the best and is fussy cut out.

The trees and caravan have been layered on a Basic White Cardstock circle die cut to match the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #350

Hey Everyone

When you have a couple of spare hours on a Sunday afternoon, you craft! I created this card for the latest challenge at Global Design Project. This week they have a sketch challenge for us to create our cards:

One of the bundles I’ve been hanging to get is the Season of Chic Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue.

The stamp set and dies in this bundle have a combination of images that work for any occasion! This would have to be one of the most versatile bundles as it covers all of your crafting needs.

I’ve chosen a leaf stamp and leaves dies for my card and combined it with the lattice type die to make a card for a friend.

I started this card by taking a Blending Brush and Pool Party Ink and added some shading to the Basic White Cardstock. I then took the ink splatters stamp and Early Espresso Ink and randomly stamped over the shading. I then adhered the lattice type die cut with some Tombow Adhesive.

The leaves have been inked up with Crumb Cake Ink. Before stamping on to cardstock, I took a dauber and Early Espresso Ink and added some ink to the stamp. I then stamped it on to Basic White Cardstock and repeated the process. These leaves were then die cut out. I found some off-cut pieces of Early Espresso Cardstock and cut two leaves with the same die. After scrunching them in my hand, I added them to my card. The inked leaves were then added with Dimensionals.

The sentiment I chose for my card is also from the Season of Chic Stamp Set. This sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso Ink. I also added a torn strip of Pool Party Cardstock to peak out from under the sentiment.

To finish off my card I added a bow made with the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon and three Champagne Rhinestones.

Freshly Made Sketches #544

Hey Everyone

There’s a sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed Cecile Ribon. Take a look at her wonderful sketch:

I decided to create a couple of little notes cards using Cecile’s sketch. The leaves I’ve coloured are from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set. I stamped the leaves twice for each card and coloured them with the Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends. I then used the matching Natural Prints Dies and cut them out.

The Basic White Cardstock has been matted with Kraft Cardstock. The sentiment I added was chosen because it fit across the card and I like the saying. This sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set. I finished off my card with a Linen Thread bow and also looped it around the card three times.

Just Add Ink #609

Hey Everyone

This week at Just Add Ink we have the following challenge for you to play along with:

Easy peasy for me as most of my stamp sets are floral stamp sets. The set I’ve chosen to add to my card is called Happiness Abounds Stamp Set. This set has really lovely flowers and pretty sentiments.

The flowers have been coloured with my Highland Heather Blends and for the centre, I used my Mango Melody Blends. I added extra shading of Highland Heather to the creases of the flowers to give definition.

The leaves are also from the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set. I have coloured them with my Soft Succulent Blends and fussy cut them out.

The designer series paper I’ve added to my Basic White Cardstock was the starting point to my card and I coloured my blooms to match the DSP. This strip of DSP is from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper pack. I really like the watercoloured ombre effect of this side of the paper.

I added a torn strip of Highland Heather Cardstock along the edge and layered my flowers and leaves. After i adhered these down, I decided my card needed a little more, so I added a some Silver Metallic trim from the Simply Elegant Trim. Three Iridescent Pearls were added for that bit of blinginess and fullness that I love on my cards.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created wonderful florally creations for the challenge. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #541

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by my creative leggy Canadian friend Jennifer Brum.

I have the need for a wedding card, so I’ve used this weeks sketch to create a flowery creation for the newlyweds.

These pretty flowers I’ve coloured for my card are from the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set. I’ve coloured the flowers with the Cherry Cobbler Blends. I took my Color Lifter and removed some of the colour on the petals to give them light and dark shading.

The leaves are also from the same stamp set. These leaves have been coloured with the Old Olive Blends and fussy cut out.

The piece of DSP I’ve placed across the card is from the Sun Prints DSP. I love the combination of Gray Granite, Basic Black and Whisper White.

To add a little of embellishment and elegance, I added some ribbon that I gathered and placed with a ribbed effected down the card. Three metallic pearls were added to match the gold in the ribbon.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch as inspiration. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #540

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This weeks sketch has been designed by the wonderfully creative Jen Mitchell. Make sure you pop over to her blog and check out her creations.

The card I’ve created features the Wild & Sweet Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!. The koala has been lightly coloured with my Smoky Slate Blends.

After I placed my koala on the card, I realised it was lacking in details, so I added some trees from the retired Rooted In Nature Stamp Set. These trees have been created by using the marker directly to the stamp technique. Before stamping I huffed on the stamp to add moisture and applied the image to cardstock. Once I repeated this process, I fussy cut the trees and placed them on my card.

The team have created awesome cards. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.
