Freshly Made Sketches #582

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means there’s a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer this week is Karren Johnson. Karren is the Queen of backgrounds and never seems to use the same stamp set twice – her whole house must be full of them!

Take a look at her awesome sketch:

I wanted to ink up the Nested Friends Stamp Set another time before it retires. I used the marker direct to stamp technique for the nest image. I applied Evening Evergreen and Early Espresso ink to the stamp, huffed on it with my breath and stamped it on Basic White Cardstock. I did the same with the branches and then fussy cut all images out.

The birds were stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured quite quickly with Pool Party and Soft Suede Blends. These little cuties were also fussy cut out.

The circle of DSP I’ve added is from the Abigail Rose DSP pack. I am really going to miss this DSP! I added a sentiment from the Nested Friends Stamp Set and matted it with a torn piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock.

I was actually going to leave the background all white, but decided it was a little too stark, so I added flicks of my dark Basic Gray Blend and then Pearls to finish it off.

The team have created wonderful cards using Karren’s sketch. Make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #389

Hey Everyone

How pretty is this colours challenge the Global Design Project has this week for us to play along?

This is why I love colour challenges, they make me try combos I would never normally think of!

I started my card off with a masked background, a Blending Brush and Daffodil Delight Ink. The mask I used is from the Artistic Mix Decorative Mask pack.

The flowers and leaves are from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. I’ve stamped them in a combination of Daffodil Delight and Tahitian Tide Inks. I added Pumpkin Pie Ink centres to all of the flowers. The stamped sentiment is from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set and the die cut sentiment is from the matching Sending Dies.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #648

Hey Everyone

The newest challenge at Just Add Ink is the following:

I have to tell you, I sooked about this challenge as I had no idea what to do with 2 out of 3 of the things that were chosen for us. After I got over myself, I decided to go with all 3!

I have created a watery background alongside a brick wall. Kind of what you see in Greece. I then added a fernery type cluster of leaves amongst my sentiment.

The team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #581

Hey everyone

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches for you to play along with. This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Cecile Ribon.

I was going to find a heart die to create the same shape as the sketch, but instead reached for the Chic Dies and created a similar shape with Basic White Cardstock . For the background of the card, I took my Artistic Mix Decorative Masks and shaded the background with Coastal Cabana Ink. I then took my Dark Bermuda Bay Blend and flicked ink over the top.

The pansies i’ve added are from the Pansy Patch Stamp Set. I’ve stamped them up with a combination of Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody Inks. For the centre of the yellow flowers, I’ve added Highland Heather Ink highlights. For the purple flowers, I stamped them with a combination of Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape Inks. For the centre of these flowers, I added Mango Melody Ink highlights.

For the leaves in the background, I stamped up the fern fronds stamp from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set. These have been inked up with Coastal Cabana Ink.

The team have all created awesome cards with Cecile’s sketch. Make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #580

Hey Everyone

It’s time for anew challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is Jen Mitchell. Jen creates the most gorgeous clean cards that you will want to check out.

The card I created features flowers from the Two-Tone Flora Stamp Set. The flowers are a two-step stamp. The base colours I’ve used for each are Highland Heather and Powder Pink. The top (more defined) stamps have been inked up with Gorgeous Grape and Blushing Bride. Each flower was then fussy cut out.

The leaves are from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set that I had inked up and coloured one night when I was sitting in front of the TV. I stamped up a whole piece of Basic White Cardstock just to have them coloured and ready to fussy cut when I needed them.

The background Kraft Cardstock was embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder and cut to size. I added a sentiment from the Something Fancy Stamp Set that could easily be swapped out for a birthday sentiment if needed.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #387

Hey Everyone

I’m on an Easter card roll as well as a “use up all the discarded die cuts and strips of DSP sitting on my desk” roll.

The card I made is for the Easter themed challenge at Global Design Project.

These lil cutie images are from the Easter Bunny Stamp Set. I stamped and watercoloured them on Fluid 100 paper.

The strips of DSP that I’ve added to my card are from the Abigail Rose DSP pack. The leafy diecut, actually one and a half of them, have been cut with the Artistic Dies.

To add interest to the background I flicked a Smoky Slate Blend across the cardstock. I then folded the edges of two corners for those extra details that I love on a card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #579

Hey Everyone

I almost had my card ready for this weeks challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, but I ran out of time to photograph it. This weeks sketch has been designed by the incredibly talented Jen Timko. Make sure you head over to her blog and check out her gorgeous creations.

The card I created features flowers from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set. The flowers have been coloured with a combination of all of my yellow blends with a touch of the Light Pumpkin Pie Blend. The leaves were coloured with my Granny Apple Green Blends.

The diecuts I’ve used in the background were leftovers from other projects. These diecuts are from the Chic Dies and Forever Flourishing Dies. Love it when I can use up bits of stuff from my desk!

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #646

Hey Everyone

The challenge at Just Add Ink this week is an inspiration picture. Take a look at the pic:

My card is made up of images from the Easter Bunny Stamp Set. I coloured the images and fussy cut them out. I then created grass by trimming Garden Green Cardstock into strips and adhered it around the bunnies.

The team have created wonderful cards using the inspiration pic. Head over to the challenge and see what hey’ve created.

Just Add Ink #640

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink has been exactly that for me – a challenge. Mainly because I wanted to try something different for me and once I had the idea of doing it, I HAD to follow through until I was finished. Not 100% sure it’s a favourite of mine, but it will do.

I started searching around Pinterest for a card with a surprise detail and came across this really cool video by Laura Volpes.

My idea for my card was born.

I added flowers from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set that have been coloured with Petal Pink and Real Red Blends. The leaves were coloured with both of my Granny Apple Green Blends and fussy cut out.

For the surprise feature, I added a stamped sentiment and flowers from the same stamp set and quickly coloured the flowers in with the Petal Pink Blends.

A die cut sentiment from the Love For You Dies was cut with Basic Black and Basic White Cardstock and added to the top flower because I love details and a certain fullness to my cards.

You can see more of the detail of the flowers and sentiment when the panel is lifted higher. I also took the Light Basic Black Blend and flicked ink across the cardstock as I feel it needed more. I couldn’t stop there – I had to add pearls, a ribbon for the pull tab that has been tied together with a Linen Thread Bow.

Make sure you visit Just Add Ink and check out what the team have created, Their projects are amazing.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #583

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch challenge to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our fab sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Kim Singdahlsen.

I’ve gone with a neutral toned masculine card using the Lighthouse Dies from Stampin Up!. I cut out the lighthouse with a combination of Basic White and Kraft Cardstock.

The background, and pretty much all of my card, was made up with strips of cardstock that I had laying on my desk. It feels so good to be able to use up pieces of discarded strips.

To add interest to the background I flicked ink to the white cardstock with the Light Black Blend. I added a torn piece of ribbon to the lighthouse and some cloud die cuts. These were added because I like to add details to all of my cards.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards. Make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
