Freshly Made Sketches #541

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by my creative leggy Canadian friend Jennifer Brum.

I have the need for a wedding card, so I’ve used this weeks sketch to create a flowery creation for the newlyweds.

These pretty flowers I’ve coloured for my card are from the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set. I’ve coloured the flowers with the Cherry Cobbler Blends. I took my Color Lifter and removed some of the colour on the petals to give them light and dark shading.

The leaves are also from the same stamp set. These leaves have been coloured with the Old Olive Blends and fussy cut out.

The piece of DSP I’ve placed across the card is from the Sun Prints DSP. I love the combination of Gray Granite, Basic Black and Whisper White.

To add a little of embellishment and elegance, I added some ribbon that I gathered and placed with a ribbed effected down the card. Three metallic pearls were added to match the gold in the ribbon.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch as inspiration. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #540

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This weeks sketch has been designed by the wonderfully creative Jen Mitchell. Make sure you pop over to her blog and check out her creations.

The card I’ve created features the Wild & Sweet Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!. The koala has been lightly coloured with my Smoky Slate Blends.

After I placed my koala on the card, I realised it was lacking in details, so I added some trees from the retired Rooted In Nature Stamp Set. These trees have been created by using the marker directly to the stamp technique. Before stamping I huffed on the stamp to add moisture and applied the image to cardstock. Once I repeated this process, I fussy cut the trees and placed them on my card.

The team have created awesome cards. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created for this challenge.

Global Design Project Challenge #346

Hey Everyone

The sketch challenge at Global Design Project had me reaching for my favourite stamp set – Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. The placement of flowers on the sketch had me thinking of shells on a shaded background with ink splatters.

I took out the images I wanted to use and inked them up with Black Memento Ink. I then took a combination of Pale Papaya, Pumpkin Pie & Smoky Slate Blends to give the images colour. I inked up the leaf-y images in Smoky Slate Ink and fussy cut them out after stamping.

The Linen Thread that I plaited has been placed around the shells and adhered down with Glue Dots. The sentiment that I’ve added to my card is also from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. This sentiment is actually one stamp, but I’ve trimmed it through the centre to give me two sentiments – I feel this gives me more balance.

Global Design Project #344

Hey Everyone

The challenge at Global Design Project this week is a CASE challenge. The card we’ve been given to CASE is this gorgeous one from Charlet Mallett.

I am loving the the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper. The flowers in this pack are just gorgeous and perfect for those who love to fussy cut. As much as I love colouring, I also love that these flowers are can be just trimmed and placed on any project. The leaves are also from the same piece of DSP. The tiny little flowers, also cut from the DSP, have also been fussy cut and adhered down with tombow.

The background on my card has been given colour with a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue Ink and Night of Navy Ink. I started blending with Balmy Blue and then came in from the edges with Night of Navy. I then took my light Night of Navy Blend and flicked the nib against the lid to create the ink splatters. The Basic Rhinestones were also coloured with the light Night of Navy Blend to match the blue theme on my card.

The sentiment was heat embossed on Basic Black Cardstock and trimmed down and layered across the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink#605

Hey Everyone

We love Friday’s because that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

This inspiration pic is just awesome! I can see you all creating diverse cards with either the colours from the pic or an oceanic card like I have. This card reminds me of yesterdays card, but this one was made three weeks ago. I uploaded it to our gallery and then forgot all about it. I only whipped up yesterdays card on Sunday – it seems they kind of unintentionally match!

The Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set got another workout for my card. All of the images have been lightly watercoloured. The ink colours I’ve used are – Night of Navy and Crumb Cake for the shells and Mint Macaron for the leaves.

The DSP I’ve used down the side of my card and also on the card base is from the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper pack. I matted the striped DSP with Night of Navy Cardstock as I think it makes the stripes in the DSP pop.

The sentiment has been trimmed in half and layered for more interest. I had an off-cut piece of White Frayed Ribbon sitting on my desk, so I used my fingers and frayed it at one end. I then added a Linen Thread Bow around this ribbon and tucked it behind the layers.

The team have created awesome projects using the inspiration pic. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #536

Hey everyone

Note: when you schedule your post, make sure you press schedule….this post was for last week….

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week the amazingly talented Karren Johnson has given us this fab sketch to create with:

Getting new stamping products always makes me smile. These gorgeous flowers are fussy cut from a new pack of DSP that I’ve purchased. It’s called Hues of Happiness and has a wonderful assortment of images and colours. The leaves are also cut from the same papers.

To create the background under my flowers, I took a Blending Brush and some So Saffron Ink. I shaded the background down the middle of the Whisper White Cardstock. I then took the script stamp from Very Versailles Stamp Set and some Basic Gray Ink and stamped this script stamp twice to cover the cardstock.

I then added three Iridescent Basic Rhinestones and a ribbon bow that I added under my sentiment. The sentiment was heat embossed on Black Cardstock.

Because I made this card for my mum, I roughed up the edges of the card as she is a lover of vintage. Tis probs a tad too many raw edges for a clean challenge, but just image clean edges and it will fit the brief!

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #342

Hey Everyone

There’s a sketch challenge at Global Design Project that I wanted to play along with, so I whipped around the house and kind of cleaned and headed out to my craft room.

I have never been one to reach for Night Of Navy when creating a card. But as soon as I saw the gorgeous Sun Prints DSP, I knew I had to have this DSP.

The Nature’s Prints Stamp Set and Natural Prints Dies features on my card. The leafy image I’ve stamped twice and fussy cut has been watercoloured with Night Of Navy Ink. I’ve probs never seen leaves this colour but I wanted them to match my DSP. I added two Whisper White Cardstock die cuts to the layers and a stamped sentiment from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set. This sentiment was then die cut with a die from the Natural Prints Dies.

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #603

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday! So that means it’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a colour challenge. Have a look at these gorgeous colours!

I love receiving new catalogue products! I’ve been waiting for new flowery stamp sets to colour and fussy cut!

The stamp set I’ve used for my card is called Happiness Abounds. How gorgeous are these blooms? I’ve got my watercolouring on and coloured the flowers with a combination of Blushing Bride and Rich Razzleberry Inks. The leaves have been watercoloured with Mint Maccaron Ink. All flowers and leaves have been fussy cut out.

To add a little bit more interest, I added some leafy die cuts cut with the matching dies to the stamp set, called Blossoming Happiness Dies. The sentiment was stamped on a label that was found in the die set also.

The background cardstock has been embossed with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder. To add a little bit of bling I added three Polished Dots.

To add some of the challenge colours, I added strips of Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron Cardstock under the sentiment label.

The team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you to create a card and add it to the gallery. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #601

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is a sketch challenge. Sketch challenges are my fav and great starting point to making any card.

The card I’ve created is a roughed up creation using the In The Moment Stamp Set combined with the lighthouse image from the soon-to-retired Sailing Home Stamp Set.

The image of the girl holding her hat has been watercoloured with Fresh Freesia Ink and Smoky Slate Ink. I also used some Crumb Cake Ink for her hair, railing and glass of wine (I think it’s wine…). The lighthouse has been watercoloured with Smoky Slate Ink and fussy cut out.

The circle image has been given a seaside scene with a Blending Brush, Pool Party and Crumb Cake Inks. The birds have been stamped from the In The Moment Stamp Set also. I had to mask off the image with a post-it to stamp them where I wanted them.

Both the DSP (from the Heart & Home DSP pack) and Basic Gray Cardstock have been roughed up, torn and adhered on the angle. As we always do, I had strips of offcut cardstock on my desk, so I created two slim banners and stapled them to the top left as I felt the card was imbalanced with the images placed more on the right side of the circles.

The sentiment that I’ve placed on the layers is also from the In the Moment Stamp Set.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful inspiration for you. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they created.

Just Add Ink #599

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

My favourite animal is a sloth but I don’t have a sloth stamp in my stash. So i decided to go with a favourite animal I have in my craft room. The Count on Me Stamp Set has the cutest bear holding a heart, so I grabbed it out to colour with my Smoky Slate Blends. The heart has been coloured with the Cherry Cobbler Blends. I added an extra heart to the layers behind the leafy diecut.

The vellum DSP I’ve added to the background is from the Vellum 12 x 12 Layering Designs pack. I think I’m going to give this card to my niece for her baby shower as I think it will be a special day and want to wish her happiness for it.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous projects. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.
