Global Design Project #354 & TGIF Challenge #380

Hey Everyone

The weekend is over……but I managed to create a card for two challenges today – the sketch/tag challenge at Global Design Project and the colour challenge at TGIF Challenges.

Here’s my thrown together card. Normally when i have a new-to-me colour challenge, I keep my card mostly white with touches of the challenge colours, but I went against that today and threw all my colours together. I kinda just went with it.

These cute hippos are from the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set. I’ve combined these cuties with trees from the Trees for Sale Stamp Set and die cuts from the Hippo Dies.

When in doubt for a layout, I always start with circle die cuts. I then layered the tag i created over the bright Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie circles. I carried over the Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo Cardstock to the umbrella and hearts.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #615

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge over at Just Add Ink. This week is inspiration picture week. Take a look at the pic we have for you to craft along with:

I chose to create a Christmas car with gorgeous colours from the pic. I have used the Trees for Sale Stamp Set and the matching Tree Lot Dies. I couldn’t decide what images and dies to use from this bundle, so I kinda threw everyone at it!

I kept my colours as close to the pic as possible, so they were – Crumb Cake, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and a touch of green in the wreath hanging on the caravan door.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards that will inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #614

Hey Everyone

I really love the challenge at Just Add Ink this week. Our challenge for you is to:

I instantly thought the Season of Chic Stamp Set was perfect for this challenge. The shell images and dies (from the Chic Dies) work together so well. The combination of colours I’ve used on my card are Pool Party, Soft Suede and Early Espresso.

The background cardstock was watercoloured with Pool Party Ink and the ink splatters were stamped in Early Espresso Ink. Early Espresso is one of the colours that I have challenged myself to use more often. Once upon a time, it was one of my go-to colours.

The ribbon I’ve used on my card is called Natural Ribbon Trim. I cut the ribbon in half, frayed the edges and adhered around my shells with Glue Dots.

What under the sea project is complete without pearls? I added three Basic Pearls because you know I can’t do without bling.

The team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards for the challenge. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what they girls have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #613

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday already. I can’t believe how quickly the weekends comes around! The challenge at Just Add Ink this week is a colour challenge. Take a look at the colours we have for you to play along with:

Amongst my new goodies, I ordered the Artistic Decorative Masks. I wanted to create a different background than what I normally do. I took the mask, a Blending Brush and Fresh Freesia Ink. The colour went down really easy and i shaded the cardstock randomly. I was really happy with the result.

I then stamped up the large flowers from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and watercoloured them with Starry Sky Ink and the small flowers with Fresh Freesia Ink. The leaves have been coloured with the Mint Macaron Blends. I fussy cut out all of the images and placed them around my card.

The sentiment I’ve used is also from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set. I stamped the sentiment in Black Memento Ink and die cut the sentiment out with a label die from the Natural Prints Dies. All of my images and layers have been raised with Dimensionals. Three Basic Pearls finished off my card.

The team at Just Add Ink have created awesome creations and all of them so varied. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Everyone

We love Friday’s because that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

This inspiration pic is just awesome! I can see you all creating diverse cards with either the colours from the pic or an oceanic card like I have. This card reminds me of yesterdays card, but this one was made three weeks ago. I uploaded it to our gallery and then forgot all about it. I only whipped up yesterdays card on Sunday – it seems they kind of unintentionally match!

The Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set got another workout for my card. All of the images have been lightly watercoloured. The ink colours I’ve used are – Night of Navy and Crumb Cake for the shells and Mint Macaron for the leaves.

The DSP I’ve used down the side of my card and also on the card base is from the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper pack. I matted the striped DSP with Night of Navy Cardstock as I think it makes the stripes in the DSP pop.

The sentiment has been trimmed in half and layered for more interest. I had an off-cut piece of White Frayed Ribbon sitting on my desk, so I used my fingers and frayed it at one end. I then added a Linen Thread Bow around this ribbon and tucked it behind the layers.

The team have created awesome projects using the inspiration pic. Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #603

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday! So that means it’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a colour challenge. Have a look at these gorgeous colours!

I love receiving new catalogue products! I’ve been waiting for new flowery stamp sets to colour and fussy cut!

The stamp set I’ve used for my card is called Happiness Abounds. How gorgeous are these blooms? I’ve got my watercolouring on and coloured the flowers with a combination of Blushing Bride and Rich Razzleberry Inks. The leaves have been watercoloured with Mint Maccaron Ink. All flowers and leaves have been fussy cut out.

To add a little bit more interest, I added some leafy die cuts cut with the matching dies to the stamp set, called Blossoming Happiness Dies. The sentiment was stamped on a label that was found in the die set also.

The background cardstock has been embossed with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder. To add a little bit of bling I added three Polished Dots.

To add some of the challenge colours, I added strips of Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron Cardstock under the sentiment label.

The team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you to create a card and add it to the gallery. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #601

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is a sketch challenge. Sketch challenges are my fav and great starting point to making any card.

The card I’ve created is a roughed up creation using the In The Moment Stamp Set combined with the lighthouse image from the soon-to-retired Sailing Home Stamp Set.

The image of the girl holding her hat has been watercoloured with Fresh Freesia Ink and Smoky Slate Ink. I also used some Crumb Cake Ink for her hair, railing and glass of wine (I think it’s wine…). The lighthouse has been watercoloured with Smoky Slate Ink and fussy cut out.

The circle image has been given a seaside scene with a Blending Brush, Pool Party and Crumb Cake Inks. The birds have been stamped from the In The Moment Stamp Set also. I had to mask off the image with a post-it to stamp them where I wanted them.

Both the DSP (from the Heart & Home DSP pack) and Basic Gray Cardstock have been roughed up, torn and adhered on the angle. As we always do, I had strips of offcut cardstock on my desk, so I created two slim banners and stapled them to the top left as I felt the card was imbalanced with the images placed more on the right side of the circles.

The sentiment that I’ve placed on the layers is also from the In the Moment Stamp Set.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful inspiration for you. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they created.

Just Add Ink #598

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is a colour challenge. Take a look at the fab colours we have for you to create with:

As soon as I saw these colours I thought they would work really well for a masculine card. The stamp set I’ve used is called Clubhouse Stamp Set. This set is retired but it will be one I hold on to for those golfers in my life. I watercoloured my image with the three colours from the challenge.

I didn’t stop there. I stamped up some trees from the Mountain Air Stamp Set in Sahara Sand Ink and fussy cut them out. I also shaded the background cardstock with Misty Moonlight Ink and a Blending Brush. To add to the background, I stamped some bird images which are also found in the Mountain Air Stamp Set.

The die cuts I’ve used are from the Tasteful Labels Dies and the circle is cut with my Circle Dies. I added some Linen Thread and a birthday sentiment.

The team have created wonderful and all very different cards for this challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #586

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my first blog post for 2022 and the first challenge for Just Add Ink for 2022. We have a fun challenge for you and it’s a blog hop. Our team have created projects for this hop using the following theme:

When I saw this challenge, I knew I wanted to create a card with a combination of colours from the inspiration picture.

This card started with the DSP that I chose for my card as it had a lot the colours from the pic. This DSP is from the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper pack – which is part of a Sale-A-Bration incentive with the Friendly Hello Bundle. This bundle can be yours free when you spend $180 during the SAB period.

The stamp set these cut little images are from is called the Easter Friends Stamp Set. I’ve given them colour with a combination of all my yellow blends. You can’t get more summer-y than these yellow cuties.

Once I started layering all my elements together, I felt my card was a little plain, so I gave the Basic White Cardstock some Pool Party Ink shading and cut a Garden Green Cardstock tree diecut with the Majestic Mountain Dies.

A strip of ribbon from the 1/8″ Cotton Ribbon Pack. I knotted the ribbon and one end and tucked under the side of the cardstock. I then adhered the right side with glue dots.

Three little Polished Dots placed around the card finished it off.

Click here or on the button below to take you to the next person on the hop, my creative crafty friend Chantell!

We would love it if you could play along with our summer-y challenge. Once you complete hopping around, make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and link up a project.

Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve used a combination of current and retired products for my chockies. I’ve also combined non traditional colours for all three designs – I really love non traditional colours.
