Just Add Ink #633

Hey Everyone

There is a new challenge for you to play along with over at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a colour challenge.

I decided to give these colours a try on a Christmas card. I actually like this combo for a festive card and may use it again!

The stamp set I’ve used on my card is called Christmas Season. The pine cones were stamped in Basic Gray Ink. The bottom stamp was inked up and stamped off on scrap paper to lighten the colour and then stamped on cardstock. I then used full strength Basic Gray Ink for the top stamp. The pine cones were then fussy cut out.

Both type of leaves were inked up with Bermuda Bay Ink and stamped on cardstock. I then a Bermuda Bay pencil and added shading to each leaf to add dimension. The berries were stamped in Sweet Sorbet Ink and fussy cut out.

The diecut I added under my sentiment was watercoloured with Bermuda Bay Ink and placed under the diecut sentiment so you could see it better.

I gave the background cardstock shading with a Blending Brush and Bermuda Bay Ink and Bermuda Bay Blend flicks.

The team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they created.

Just Add Ink #629

Hey Everyone

It’s new challenge time at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

One of my fav “winged” stamp sets is a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Free As A Bird. These birds are perfect for colouring and I really love the artwork in them.

I’ve paired my birds with flowery and leafy images from the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. I lightly coloured the flowers and leaves so that the birds stood out against the foliage. The sentiment was one I had stamped and lay discarded on my desk. I have forgotten what set it was from at the time of typing this… The DSP I’ve used is also retired, it’s called Heart & Home DSP. I matted this with Pool Party Cardstock and layered it on a Basic White card base.

Just Add Ink #625

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with over at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

How pretty is this inspiration pic?

Stampin’ Up! have given me the perfect DSP to colour and fussy cut out for this challenge. This DSP is from a pack called Abigail Rose. The ledger print DSP is also from this pack. I roughed up the edges of this DSP as well as added Crumb Cake Ink around the edges to give it a worn look. The Basic White Cardstock piece behind the DSP has been embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder and also given the worn and torn edges.

Under the flower images, I added diecuts that I had sitting on my desk and a bow made with the Gold and Satin Edged Ribbon. My favourite sentiment from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set was added to finish off the card.

Just Add Ink #623

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means a new challenge to play along with over at Just Add Ink. This week is a colour challenge week. Take a look at the colours we have for you:

I combined these colours to create a Christmas card using two stamp sets – Jingle, Jingle, Jingle and Trees for Sale Stamp Set.

The torn notebook edged cardstock was created using a die from the Blossoming Happiness Dies. I love a torn and worn edge to give my cards texture.

Just Add Ink #621

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a sketch challenge. Here’s our sketch:

I saw the sketch and instantly thought of hippos! The hippos I’ve used are from the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set. I’ve coloured them with a variety of colours – Pool Party, Pale Papaya and Highland Heather Blends. Each hippo is layered over a circle punch in the same colour they were coloured with.

The circles sit on a Basic White Cardstock base that has been shaded with Pool Party Ink over an Artistic Mix Decorative Mask.

Once I adhered everything down, I felt the card needed a little something extra, so I stamped some leaves and flowers from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set. The leaves were coloured with my Pool Party Blends and the flowers with a combination of Flirty Flamingo and So Saffron Blends. Each of these leaves and flowers were fussy cut out and placed around the hippos.

Three Basic Rhinestone Jewels were added for that bit of bling I like.

Just Add Ink #619

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week is a themed challenge. Our challenge for you is to:

I’ve continued my love of the Season of Chic Bundle and created a masculine card for the challenge.

The two-step shell images have been stamped with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso Inks. These shells have then been cut out.

To create the smaller shells, I took the small shell die from the Chic Dies and traced around it. I then took my Watercolour Brush and added Crumb Cake Ink to give it some definition. The shells still didn’t feel defined enough, so I opened my Early Espresso Ink and ran the shell across the pad to give it an outlined edge.

The netting-like background was created with Bermuda Bay Cardstock and the die from the Chic Dies. Amongst my images and die cuts, I’ve added some ribbon that I have frayed and bunched up.

When you don’t have DSP to match your colour combo, I like to take the matching cardstock colours and create a layout with interest – like the torn edged one I’ve gone with for this card.

Here’s what I came up with:

Just Add Ink #618

Hey Everyone

Happy Friday! The card I’m sharing today is for this weeks colour challenge at Just Add Ink. Take a look at the challenge colours:

I am ashamed to say that I have never purchased a pack of Pacific Point Cardstock…. The ink I had, had never even been opened…. It’s just a colour I have barely ever reached for except for this challenge…. But I have to say, I actually really love the colour and will make sure I don’t neglect it ever again!

I’ve created a worn and torn edged flowery card with a vintage-y vibe. The challenge colours have been featured in the flowers and leaves as well as carrying over to the cardstock.

The flowers, from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set, have been lightly watercoloured in Pacific Point and Crumb Cake Inks. The leaves were lightly watercoloured with Old Olive Ink. Both flower images and leaves were fussy cut out. The sentiment is also from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set. I’ve used a circle die to cut this sentiment out.

The cardstock behind my flowers has been embossed with the Bricks and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. I then took a Blending Brush and Crumb Cake Ink and blended the bricks with ink.

Under this embossed piece, I took a piece of Pacific Point Cardstock and tore the edge on one side to add to the vintage theme.

Some ribbon finished off my card. I cut a piece of Natural Finish Ribbon in half and gathered it on the right side of the card, adhering it with Glue Dots.

Just Add Ink #617

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge for you to play along with over at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is for you to:

I’ve gone with a square card for a change. It started as a rectangle card, but as I was playing around wth the DSP I had cut (maybe I should measure twice and cut once in future…) I felt there was better balance overall with a square design. The two items I chosen to feature on my card are – Dots and Diecuts.

The papers I’ve used are from two different DSP packs. The black and white spotted paper is from the Perfectly Pencilled Designer Series Paper pack and the petal pink striped DSP is from the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper Pack. Because of my miscalculation of size and the messing around I did, I had to cut a strip of Basic Black Cardstock to fill the space in between them.

After adhering all of these together, I cut a circle diecut and raised it up with Dimensionals. On this circle, I added a Basic White flower diecut cut with a die from the Artistic Dies. I fussy cut some black and white leaves from the Perfectly Pencilled DSP and layered them under some stamped flowers from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set.

A sentiment from Artistically Inked Stamp Set finished off my card. I love how this sentiment fits every card and is just the right font for masculine or feminine cards. I have raised this sentiment up with Dimensionals – maybe even double Dimensionals.

Just Add Ink #616

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge over at Just Add Ink for you to play along with. This week is sketch week and I have designed this super simple sketch.

The card I’ve created features images fussy cut from the Boughs Of Holly Designer Series Paper Pack. The circle diecut in the background is also from this pack of DSP. The pink striped circle diecut is from the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper pack. This piece was sitting on my desk and I like the colour combo of pink with the red and green I had chosen.

After layering everything together, I felt the card needed a little more, so I added some gold twine beneath the layers. Lucky I hadn’t stuck it all down!

The background cardstock was given texture with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder and to finish it off, I added three Basic Pearl Rhinestones.

Here’s the card I created:

Global Design Project #354 & TGIF Challenge #380

Hey Everyone

The weekend is over……but I managed to create a card for two challenges today – the sketch/tag challenge at Global Design Project and the colour challenge at TGIF Challenges.

Here’s my thrown together card. Normally when i have a new-to-me colour challenge, I keep my card mostly white with touches of the challenge colours, but I went against that today and threw all my colours together. I kinda just went with it.

These cute hippos are from the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set. I’ve combined these cuties with trees from the Trees for Sale Stamp Set and die cuts from the Hippo Dies.

When in doubt for a layout, I always start with circle die cuts. I then layered the tag i created over the bright Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie circles. I carried over the Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo Cardstock to the umbrella and hearts.

Thanks for stopping by.
