Freshly Made Sketches #464

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch challenge for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is the uber talented Judy Rozema.

I’m having a break from Christmas for this challenge. I’ve chosen to create a masculine card with the sketch. The stamp set I’ve used is called Sailing Home Stamp Set. I’ve kept my colours simple – Smoky Slate in the DSP, lighthouse lightly coloured with my Mint Macaron Blends and a diecut in Mint Macaron Cardstock.

To add little interest, I added some Braided Linen Trim and stamped the bird image from the Sailing Home Stamp Set.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created amazing cards with Judy’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #463

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer this week is the fabulously talented Amy O’Neill! Amy’s cards are always so recognisable and a real stand out, as are her sketches!

I love layers! I’ve added probs one or two too many, but I just couldn’t help myself – soz Amy! The die cut sentiment I’ve added is created with the Joy Dies. The word “Bright” is made from Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and I used a matching die and Whisper White Cardstock to create a base for it. The “Merry And” sentiments are from the matching stamp set to the dies is from the Peace and Joy Stamp Set. The sentiment has been layered over a Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper diecut – these leafy diecuts give a perfect elegant touch to any card.

The strips of DSP I’ve added to my card are from the Classic Christmas 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack. To finish off my card I added some gold twine from the ForeverGreenery Trim Combo Pack.

The girls at Freshly Made Sketches have made wonderful cards using Amy’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #462

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by me! I took inspiration for my sketch from the stickies icon on my computer.

I’m continuing to create Christmas cards as I don’t know how many more I need to make and also because I am loving the festive sets I have and want to get the most use out of them.

I had the Posted For You Bundle sitting on my desk so I’ve used the postage stamp image and the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch to add some layers to my card. The sentiment on my card and bow I’ve added are from the Gift Wrapped Stamp Set. The leafy diecut has been cut with my Forever Flourishing Dies. I added a piece of Braided Linen Trim to match the Crumb Cake Cardstock under the leafy diecut. To add more texture, I embossed a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with my Subtle 3D Embossing Folder added it to my card base.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created gorgeous cards that make my sketch look good! Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #460

Hey Everyon

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Judy Rozema. Take a look at her fabulous sketch:

When you want a quick and easy Christmas card, find a stamp set with matching dies. The stamp set and dies I’ve used are from the Forever Fern Bundle. I stamped the leaves in Basic Gray Ink and used the matching die to cut them out. I had the bow already coloured up sitting on my desk so all I had to do was stamp a sentiment and layer them over a Gold Hoop Embellishment. The bow and sentiment are from the Gift Wrapped Stamp Set. I inked up the background with the ink splatters stamp from the Forever Fern Stamp and Smoky Slate Ink.

To give the card base some texture, I took the piece of Whisper White Cardstock and my Subtle 3D embossing folder and ran it through my cutting machine.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #459

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jennifer Brum. Jennifer is an amazing crafter who creates lovely elegant cards and fab sketches.

I adore the images in the Warm and Toasty Stamp Set. Especially this polar bear. He’s perfect for giving a quick colour and an even quicker trim. The blends that I’ve used to colour his scarf and hat are Highland Heather and Smoky Slate Blends.

I added falling snow to the background with the ink splatters stamp from the In The Pines Stamp Set and Pool Party Ink. I stamped the ink splatters stamp off once on scrap paper to create a light background of snow.

The hills that I’ve created are from a piece of DSP from the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper and a piece of Highland Heather Cardstock cut with the Pine Woods Dies. While I had the Pine Woods Dies on my desk, I cut two Whisper White Cardstock trees to finish the scene.

I played around with sentiments and ended up with Highland Heather Ink sentiments from the Peace & Joy Stamp Set. I think the solid ink sentiment works really well and stands out against the polar bear.

I’m continuing with Christmas cards as you can never have too many of them. The stamp set I’ve used for my card is called Peacefull Boughs Stamp Set. For the background I daubed Blushing Bride Ink and stamped the ink splatters in Soft Suede Ink. I added some Braided Linen Trim and stamped up a sentiment from the Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set.

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the super talented and oh so lovely Jen Mitchell.  Make sure you pop over to her blog and see her gorgeous creations!

I’m continuing with my Christmas card making. I’ve taken the Forever Fern Stamp Set and made it work for a Christmas card.  The colours I’ve stamped my leaves in are Basic Gray, Gray Granite and Mint Macaron Inks. Once the leaves were fussycut, I layered them over a Gold Hoop Embellishment.  I then took some Braided Linen Trim and held it in place with some Glue Dots.  Three little Gold Metallic Pearls were placed on my card to add some bling.

Freshly Made Sketches #454

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch this week has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jacquie Southas.

I’m currently on annual leave and spent pretty much all of Monday chatting to friends around the world. When I said I needed to create a card with a centre panel, my fabulously talented NZer friend Paula Dobson gave me the idea to create an ombre effect panel. I’m not much of a technique cardmaker, but I decided to give it a go.  I took my dauber and some Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Inks and went to town with daubing. It’s amazing what you can do when you have extra time to play.

The Snow Wonder Stamp Set had yet to see ink, until this card.  I love this snowman because of the vintage feel of the images. My snowman was given a bit of colour with my Smoky Slate Blends and the hat and scarf with Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends.  The trees were then stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink. Once I cut them out with the matching Snow Time Dies I then added a quick shadow with my Dark Smoky Slate to the layers on the trees to create depth.

The sentiment I’ve added is also from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. This was stamped in Black Memento Ink and trimmed to fit the card.  Three Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems were added because you can’t have an even number of them on your card. I matted my panel with some Bermuda Bay Cardstock on an angle as I felt the white on white cardstock was a bit lacking.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have designed fabulous cards using the sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #453

Hey Everyone

I’m a little late posting this! There’s a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the fabulously talented Judy Rozema.

Stampin’ Up!s In The Pines Bundle got some ink this week.  The large trees I’ve used on the In The Pines Stamp Set have been stamped in Black Memento Ink and the centre has been stamped with Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Inks.  The little trees were coloured with Pool Party Ink and cut with the Pine Wood Dies.

The Pine Wood Dies from the bundle created the background curve to my stitched circle die cut. I then added three little gems because I’m a bling-y girl.

Freshly Made Sketches #452

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches for you to play along with.  Our sketch designer is the amazingly talented Amy O’Neill. Amy’s cards are always full of fabulous colours and wonderful detail.

The sketch made me think of using flowers floating at the two corners of the card.  The flowers and sentiment I’ve used on my card are from the So Much Love Stamp Set. I’ve coloured my flowers with a combination of the yellow blends.  The larger flower on the bottom of the card has been coloured with the darkest of my blends – Mango Melody. I added some light Pool Party Ink daubing around the top flower all the way to the bottom flower to add some softness the white background.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have made gorgeous cards with Amy’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.
