Just Add Ink #556

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Friday and a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is for you to:

Slimline cards are really on trend and I am seeing there everywhere. I love a slimline card as it gives me extra space to layers lots of images.

The stamp set I’ve featured on my card is called Sailing Home Stamp Set. The lighthouse image has been stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with a combination of Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends. The sailing boat image has been given colour with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and a touch of Pool Party Blends. The compass and anchor images have been given a quick colour with the Light Soft Suede Blend.

To create a soft background for the images, I took a Blending Brush and some Pool Party Ink and blended some ink until I achieved the look I wanted. The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created awesome slimline cards. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created. We would love it if you could play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #480

Hey Everyone

Don’t you love a cool sketch? I do! I adore this sketch from one of our fabulous designers at Freshly Made Sketches, Jennifer Brum. I also adore her – even if she does put me to shame with all the walking she does…..

I had some time on the weekend to play around with my blends. What better stamp set to use than the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set when you want some colouring time?

The largest shell was coloured firstly with the Crumb Cake Blends. I then took the Dark Soft Suede Blend and added a darker shade around the edge of the shell and in the definition lines. I wasn’t happy with just those colours, so I added some Pool Party to the mix. The medium sized shell was coloured with the Pool Party Blends and the Light Basic Black Blend in the creases. The smallest shell was coloured with a combination of Dark Crumb Cake and both Soft Suede Blends. Once all three shells were dry, they were then given some Wink of Stella to add a shine to them.

I used the Curvy Dies to create the die cut in the middle of my Whisper White Cardstock. I had the idea to add some Linen Trim to the edge of the die cut. I ran some Tombow Glue along the cardstock and carefully glued down the Linen Trim. For once I didn’t end up with sticky fingers and accidentally leave glue residue on the card. I also added a Linen Trim bow under the cluster of shells.

After placing everything on the card, I felt the background needed a little something extra, so I lifted the large and small shell and added the ink splatter stamp with Crumb Cake Ink and randomly stamped it. Any mishap with the stamping, on an already stuck card base, was covered by creatively placing the shells to hide it.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch. Click here to take you to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #548

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge over at Just Add Ink to play along with. This week is a sketch week. Take a look at the cool sketch we have for you:

The Geared Up Garage Stamp Set is retiring soon and I was reminded I needed to stock up on masculine cards. The vintage car image was stamped in Black Memento Ink and watercoloured with light shading of Mossy Meadow Ink. I’ve adhered a piece of Basic Black Cardstock to a Crumb Cake Cardstock card base. I then stamped a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with the grungy stamp in Crumb Cake Ink.

Once the layered were stuck down, I added a strip of Mossy Meadow Cardstock, Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim, a Whisper White Cardstock circle and a die cut piece from the Garage Gear Dies. Once this piece was cut out, I took a Journalling Pen and drew a line around the edge of the cardstock. The sentiment, also from the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set, finished off the card.

As always, the team have created wonderful cards that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #473

Hey Everyone

Can you believe? It’s already time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. Don’t Wednesdsay’s come around quick? Not that I mind too much, because it means I get to create for you. This weeks sketch has been designed by one talented, lady Amy O’Neill.

I’ve created an oceanic scene by adding some of the fabulous Oh So Ombre DSP, that’s free during Sale-A-Bration when you spend $90 here in Australia. The ombre background reminds me of the ocean, so I’ve added a boat, anchor and lighthouse images from the Sailing Home Stamp Set. All three images were lightly coloured with Crumb Cake and Seaside Spray Blends and fussy cut out.

The card base has been given texture with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder – which I have to say is my absolutely favourite embossing folder. The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. This sentiment has been trimmed down the middle and layered over the lighthouse to give the card balance.

Here’s my card:

The Clean Team have created wonderful inspiration. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #471

Hey Evryone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. Our fab sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Karren Johnson. Take a look at her sketch:

I have reached again for one of my favourite sets from the 2021 Mini Catalogue – the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. I’ve given the shells some colour with Seaside Spray, Smoky Slate and Misty Moonlight Blends. I am loving colouring these shells – I find it really relaxing and I like playing around with different colour combinations.

The background of my card has been given colour with some Seaside Spray Ink and my Blending Brush. This is a shocking photo – but sometimes that happens when you leave your card til the last minute and try and take a photo in the worst light….I’ll take another photo in better light tomorrow.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards with Karren’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Seashells and A Lighthouse

Hey Everyone

I just may be addicted to the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. I couldn’t resist another play today on this 40 odd degree day. My craft room is the coolest room in the house, so I had that excuse to stay in there all day.

For this card I’ve combined the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set with the Sailing Home Stamp Set. The artwork in the images is similar and I thought the lighthouse would work with the shell and starfish images.

The lighthouse has been coloured with a combination of Smoky Slate Blends. I had a whole desk full of coloured shell images but ended up going with two starfish – one in Pool Party and the other in Crumb Cake – and a shell coloured with Bermuda Bay Blends. The leafy images have been stamped with Bermuda Bay Ink and fussy cut out.

The background of my cardstock has been brushed with Pool Party Ink and my new Blending Brush. I then took the ink splatters image and randomly stamped the background with Smoky Slate Ink. To finish off my card I gave my Linen Thread a sailors knot and frayed the ends.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #275 & CAS(E) this Sketch #405

Hey Everyone

On a 37degree celsius day what else is there to do but sit in my air conditioned craft room? Actually, I’d use any excuse to sit in there….

I’ve combined my card today for two challenges – the theme challenge at Global Design Project and the final ever sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge. Here are their pics:

The card I’ve created has been created for a man, but this could work for a female also. The images I’ve added to my card are from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You can probably tell how much I love this set as I’ve used it more than once….

The large shell was stamped with Black Memento Ink. I took my Seaside Spray Blends and the Light Night of Navy Blend to give the shell some colour. The round shell was coloured with the light and dark Crumb Cake Blends. The little starfish has been given a quick colour with the Soft Suede Blends.

I wanted to give the background some interest so I took the ink splatter stamp and some Crumb Cake Ink. I stamped the splatters from the left side of the card to the bottom right of the card – making sure it went under the sentiment. The sentiment I’ve added is also from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set.

The designer series paper is a woodgrain piece from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper Pack. To finish off the card I added some Linen Thread and added a knot under the cluster of shells.

CAS(E) This Sketch #403

Hey Everyone

Love me a classic clean sketch. The newest sketch over at CAS(E) This Sketch is one of those. Take a look at their sketch:

I’ve been playing around all weekend with my floral stamp sets , so I decided to give the florals a break and create a card featuring the Friends are Like Seashells Stamp Set.

I love colouring. I find it really relaxing and find fussy cutting even more relaxing. The largest shell has been given a small amount of colour with Pool Party Blends and the Light Bermuda Bay Blend. The second shell is shaded with my Smoky Slate Blends. The little starfish has been given colour with the Bermuda Bay Blends. I then took my Stampin’ Blends Colour Lifter and took some colour from the centre of the starfish so it didn’t look all one tone.

To create the background of the card, I added some ink splatters in Black Memento Ink to the card base and then gave it some texture with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I layered a piece of Peony Garden DSP, that I had sitting on my desk, and a torn piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock to the card base. To this, I then added a piece of Braided Linen Trim.

Once all the shells were placed on the card, I then added a sentiment from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #464

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch challenge for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is the uber talented Judy Rozema.

I’m having a break from Christmas for this challenge. I’ve chosen to create a masculine card with the sketch. The stamp set I’ve used is called Sailing Home Stamp Set. I’ve kept my colours simple – Smoky Slate in the DSP, lighthouse lightly coloured with my Mint Macaron Blends and a diecut in Mint Macaron Cardstock.

To add little interest, I added some Braided Linen Trim and stamped the bird image from the Sailing Home Stamp Set.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created amazing cards with Judy’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #399

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means we have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  Our challenge for you is to:

I’m going through a bit of a watercolour background phase on my cards.  This week I’ve created a watery type background with my Stampin’ Up Watercolor Pencil.

What image goes with a blue watercoloured background?  A lighthouse from High Tide and three fussy cut seagulls.  The lighthouse and seagulls are from High Tide.  The lighthouse is stamped in Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.  I then added some grass that is also fussy cut and placed around my lighthouse.  The sentiment I’ve used is from For You to finish off my card I added some Black Bakers Twine.

Here’s my card:

The team at Just Add Ink have created the most creative cards I’ve seen using this weeks theme.  Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.
