Just Add Ink #619

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week is a themed challenge. Our challenge for you is to:

I’ve continued my love of the Season of Chic Bundle and created a masculine card for the challenge.

The two-step shell images have been stamped with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso Inks. These shells have then been cut out.

To create the smaller shells, I took the small shell die from the Chic Dies and traced around it. I then took my Watercolour Brush and added Crumb Cake Ink to give it some definition. The shells still didn’t feel defined enough, so I opened my Early Espresso Ink and ran the shell across the pad to give it an outlined edge.

The netting-like background was created with Bermuda Bay Cardstock and the die from the Chic Dies. Amongst my images and die cuts, I’ve added some ribbon that I have frayed and bunched up.

When you don’t have DSP to match your colour combo, I like to take the matching cardstock colours and create a layout with interest – like the torn edged one I’ve gone with for this card.

Here’s what I came up with:

Freshly Made Sketches #551

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch was designed by the wonderfully talented Kim Singdahlsen.

I pulled out my all-time favourite stamp set – Friends are Like Seashells Stamp Set. After stamping all the shells, I coloured them with a combination of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Blends. After they were coloured, I cut them out ready for layering.

The background cardstock was given colour with a Blending Brush and Pool Party Ink. I then took the ink splatters stamp and Pool Party Ink and stamped over the blended area.

I cut 3 strips of cardstock – Sahara Sand, Pacific Point and Pool Party. All 3 were torn on one side and adhered on the blended cardstock. I then took some Linen Thread and looped it around the card. The shells and sentiment were then placed with some shells raised up with Dimensionals.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #534

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Wednesday and a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully creative Cecile Ribon.

I adore all of Cecile’s sketches. They’re always super creative and really get me thinking. The Mountain Air Stamp Set came to mind when I saw her sketch, I’ve created a mountain scene and layered some fussy cut trees with a sentiment.

Some fussy cut clouds, also from the Mountain Air Stamp Set, were added just because I could. Both clouds were raised with dimensional and surrounded by stamped bird images.

To make my scene pop, I matted the cardstock with Basic Gray Cardstock and layered it on a Smoky Slate card base.

Just Add Ink #598

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is a colour challenge. Take a look at the fab colours we have for you to create with:

As soon as I saw these colours I thought they would work really well for a masculine card. The stamp set I’ve used is called Clubhouse Stamp Set. This set is retired but it will be one I hold on to for those golfers in my life. I watercoloured my image with the three colours from the challenge.

I didn’t stop there. I stamped up some trees from the Mountain Air Stamp Set in Sahara Sand Ink and fussy cut them out. I also shaded the background cardstock with Misty Moonlight Ink and a Blending Brush. To add to the background, I stamped some bird images which are also found in the Mountain Air Stamp Set.

The die cuts I’ve used are from the Tasteful Labels Dies and the circle is cut with my Circle Dies. I added some Linen Thread and a birthday sentiment.

The team have created wonderful and all very different cards for this challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #529

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Jennifer Timko. Take a look at her fab sketch:

I can’t tell you how much I love the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You probably know how much with how many times I’ve used it!

The shells I’ve added to my card have been lightly coloured with the Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake Blends. The leafy vines have been stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink and fussy cut out.

The cardstock colours I’ve used are Pool Party and Crumb Cake. I love these combo of colours for oceanic card. I took some Crumb Cake Twine and tied a knot and adhered over the Crumb Cake Cardstock strips of card i layered to the Whisper White Cardstock. I’ve torn some Crumb Cake Cardstock and added to each side of a Whisper White Cardstock panel that was shaded some with Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush.

We would love it if you could play along. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the wonderful inspiration our design team have created for you.

Freshly Made Sketches #504

Welcome to my blog and a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by Karren Johnson. Karren’s sketch is as fabulous as her cards!

I was looking for something different to add to this card. I decided to create a mountain scene to fill the space on my mini slimline card.

The mountain images that I have added to my card are from the Mountain Air Stamp Set. I gave them colour with a combination of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Blends. The mountains have been stamped twice to create the mountain range across the card. The join where the images meet was hidden strategically behind the two tree die cuts.

I felt my background needed a little something, so I took a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue Ink and added a skyline behind the mountains. I then added a strip of DSP, a thin strip of Basic Black Cardstock and some Crumb Cake Cardstock.

I then added two strips of Linen Thread and a knot, a sentiment and two Mossy Meadow Cardstock trees cut with the Majestic Mountain Dies.

Just Add Ink #569

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the newest at Just Add Ink Challenge. This week our challenge for you is to:

Straight away I thought the only thing that I can think of is that Narelle starts with N, but I couldn’t very well throw a photo of myself on a card!

So my next option was was to create a nautical card. Easy peasy when you have the best nautical stamp set sitting on your desk. The Sailing Home Stamp Set images I’ve used are the lighthouse, sailing boat and anchor. These images have been lightly coloured with the Smoky Slate and Pool Party Blends.

I’ve layered Smoky Slate Cardstock on a Basic Gray Cardstock base, with a piece of Basic White Cardstock that the sailing boat is adhered to. Behind the boat, I shaded the background lightly with Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush. The strip of designer series paper that I added is from the Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. I chose this piece as it fitted with my mainly monochromatic theme.

I like to have masculine birthday cards up my sleeve, so I added this sentiment from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, rather than nautical themed ones in the Sailing Home Stamp Set.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards so make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Global Design Project #302

Hey Everyone

Love a Sunday, spending time in my craft room colouring, fussy cutting and half watching Netflix series while I create. I’ve created this card for the sketch challenge at Global Design Project. Take a look at their fab sketch:

Combining stamp sets make your sets more versatile. I like that the artwork in the Sailing Home and Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set are similar – so I love pairing them for my cards.

The lighthouse is from the Sailing Home Set. The lighthouse has been coloured with the Night of Navy Blends and Smoky Slate Blends.

The shells I’ve layered around my lighthouse are from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. I’ve coloured them in a combination of Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Night of Navy Blends.

I found an off cut piece of retired White Flax Ribbon sitting in the messier corner of my desk (I have more than one messy corner…..). I pulled apart one end of the ribbon and tied a piece of Linen Thread around it. I then tucked the other end under the shells and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

The strips of DSP I layered on my card are from the In Good Taste DSP. I used a piece of light woodgrain DSP for the background so my images would stand out.

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #556

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Friday and a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is for you to:

Slimline cards are really on trend and I am seeing there everywhere. I love a slimline card as it gives me extra space to layers lots of images.

The stamp set I’ve featured on my card is called Sailing Home Stamp Set. The lighthouse image has been stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with a combination of Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends. The sailing boat image has been given colour with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and a touch of Pool Party Blends. The compass and anchor images have been given a quick colour with the Light Soft Suede Blend.

To create a soft background for the images, I took a Blending Brush and some Pool Party Ink and blended some ink until I achieved the look I wanted. The sentiment I’ve added to my card is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created awesome slimline cards. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created. We would love it if you could play along.

Freshly Made Sketches #480

Hey Everyone

Don’t you love a cool sketch? I do! I adore this sketch from one of our fabulous designers at Freshly Made Sketches, Jennifer Brum. I also adore her – even if she does put me to shame with all the walking she does…..

I had some time on the weekend to play around with my blends. What better stamp set to use than the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set when you want some colouring time?

The largest shell was coloured firstly with the Crumb Cake Blends. I then took the Dark Soft Suede Blend and added a darker shade around the edge of the shell and in the definition lines. I wasn’t happy with just those colours, so I added some Pool Party to the mix. The medium sized shell was coloured with the Pool Party Blends and the Light Basic Black Blend in the creases. The smallest shell was coloured with a combination of Dark Crumb Cake and both Soft Suede Blends. Once all three shells were dry, they were then given some Wink of Stella to add a shine to them.

I used the Curvy Dies to create the die cut in the middle of my Whisper White Cardstock. I had the idea to add some Linen Trim to the edge of the die cut. I ran some Tombow Glue along the cardstock and carefully glued down the Linen Trim. For once I didn’t end up with sticky fingers and accidentally leave glue residue on the card. I also added a Linen Trim bow under the cluster of shells.

After placing everything on the card, I felt the background needed a little something extra, so I lifted the large and small shell and added the ink splatter stamp with Crumb Cake Ink and randomly stamped it. Any mishap with the stamping, on an already stuck card base, was covered by creatively placing the shells to hide it.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch. Click here to take you to the challenge and see what they’ve created.
