Global Design Project #376

Hey Everyone

I managed to play along with a challenge this weekend. I couldn’t get in my craft room on Saturday as it was super hot in my room. It got to 40 degrees and my room was stinking hot! This weeks challenge at Global Design Project is a CASE The Designer Challenge. This gorgeous card of Connie’s was the card we got to CASE.

The card I created features the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set and Sunflower Dies. I was watching a FB live from my super crafty friend Angela on Friday when I saw her using the Gilded Leafing. I decided to challenge myself to using this messy stuff for the first time. For my first time using it, I decided to use is sparingly on the diecut sunflower in the background. It’s a wee bit messy especially when you have a desk fan going….might re-think the fan on my next try.

The flowers have been coloured with all my yellow blends. The centre of the flowers were coloured with the Smoky Slate Blends.

The leaves were coloured with my Granny Apple Green Blends and fussy cut out. Green Apple Green Cardstock was used for the leafy diecuts.

To add a little interest beneath the sentiment, I used a label punch and raised it up with Dimensionals.

The background was shaded with Balmy Blue Ink and a Blending Brush. I then took the Dark Smoky Slate Blend and flicked ink on to the shaded background.

Finally I added a bow and three Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Freshly Made Sketches #568

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday and another sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Judy Rozema.

I do have 3 squares under my layers, but you can’t quite see them with how I’ve arranged all my leaves and flowers!

The flowers and leafy images are from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. The flower petals have been stamped in Crushed Curry and Gorgeous Grape Inks. The centre of the flowers have been inked up with So Saffron Ink. The stems and leaf images were stamped with Granny Apple Green and cut out with the matching die from the Sending Dies.

The Basic White Cardstock behind the flowers was shaded with Balmy Blue Ink and a Blending Brush. On this piece of cardstock, I added the 3 diecut DSP squares cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. The DSP pack I’ve cut the squares from is my fav atm – it called Dandy Design Designer Series Paper pack.

The diecut sentiment has also been cut with the Sending Dies and I’ve paired this with an inked sentiment from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. One Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dot adorns my card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards using Judy’s sketch. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #567

Hey Everyone

We’re back! We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the uber talented Amy O’Neill. Amy has designed this wonderful sketch for us. If only I had had the sketch in front of me rather than try it remember it off by heart, I may’ve created my card a 100% likeness to it….oops!

The card I created features the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set. I stamped up the leave image twice – once in Cajun Craze and the second time in Calypso Coral. The images were then watercoloured to change the colours to give them light and shade. I then added Cajun Craze Ink to the Calypso Coral one around the edges to create a two toned leaf. Once the images were dried, I fussy cut them out and scrunched them up in my hand. I took Dimensionals and adhered them to the circle punch with those scrunches on them. With this amount of height, I may not send this card in the post.

I added a strip of Cajun Craze Cardstock to the back and a piece of DSP from the Dandy Designs DSP pack (my new favourite DSP pack). The sentiment was stamped and trimmed around the font. I added strips of Linen Thread across the card and tied a bow. Over all of these layers, I added the sentiment and a couple of banners.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards that will probs more resemble Amy’s sketch than mine…make sure you head over to the challenge and check them out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #372

Hey Everyone

Instead of Christmas present shopping, I played around in my craft room. Crafting is easier than thinking about what to buy people. I played along with a challenge today, the latest challenge at Global Design Project. This week is a CASE Challenge – a CASE of Kayla’s gorgeous card below:

I played around with the leaf image from the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set. The image was stamped with Cajun Craze Ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. I then took my Aqua Painter and Ink and added Crushed Curry Ink around the centre of the leaves. Each leaf was then fussy cut out.

I had a leaf sitting on my desk from the Leaf Label and Amber Gem Combo. I took this leaf and squished it in my hand. I added Soft Suede Ink around the edges of this leaf and added it to my card.

The background was given some stamping and blending with Crumb Cake Ink. I then heat embossed a sentiment from the In The Moment Stamp Set on Black Cardstock.

Three Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added for the warm colouring in them.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #370

Hey Everyone

Love a sketch challenge! I played along with the latest challenge at Global Design Project.

The Fond Of Autumn Stamp Set got a work out on my card today. After colouring the images, I trimmed the acorn/leaf image in half so that I could better layer it around my sentiment. The flower images were then placed around the leaves.

I wanted a die cut sentiment that was the focus on my card, so I reached for the Sending Smiles Bundle.

The background of my card was given colour with Crumb Cake Ink and a Blending Brush. I then created a mask on each side of the blending and flicked the Dark Soft Suede Blends nib against the lid to add splatters.

Here’s the card I created:

Just Add Ink #631

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge over at Just Add Ink. This week is a sketch challenge week. Take a look at the sketch we have for you:

I took a break from Christmas cards and created a card for a bridal shower for a special girl in my family and her fiancé.

I love to colour. This time I got my colouring fix on with the pretty flower images from the Cottage Rose Stamp Set. The flowers have been coloured with my Poppy Parade, Cherry Cobbler and Mango Melody Blends. The leaves were coloured with my Granny Apple Green Blends.

The background cardstock was shaded with Balmy Blue Ink and a Blending Brush. I then took a Decorative Artistic Mix Mask and Balmy Blue Ink. I shaded over the area I had blended with the brush only.

I added some gold ribbon, some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels and added a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.

The team at Just Add Ink have created awesome cards. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #369

Hey Everyone

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I have had a great day chatting to crafty friends as well as creating cards for challenges. The challenge I’ve created this card for is the colour challenge at Global Design Project. Their challenge this week is a colour challenge. I really love this combo they have chosen.

I had yet to ink up the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set, so this was rectified for todays card.

I inked up the leaf image with Pumpkin Pie Ink on Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper. I then took an Aqua Painter and moved the Pumpkin Pie Ink to create a weather leaf. I then took some Night of Navy Ink and very lightly added shading to the leaf. Once I was happy with the amount of ink I had applied, I stamped up a second one. Both images were fussy cut out.

I then stamped up the single small leaf in this set and applied the same technique of moving the ink around and adding shading. These were fussy cut out also.

The Basic White Cardstock in the background was shaded with a Blending Brush, an Artistic Mix Decorative Mask and Balmy Blue Ink. To add a little more detail to the background, I took the Dark Night of Navy Blend and flicked splatters to the shaded area.

I like a realistic look to my leaves, so I have crushed the cardstock in places and bunched up parts of the leaves and adhered them to keep their crushed look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #562

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches to play along with. Our sketch hostess this week is the wonderfully talented Kim Singdahlsen.

Take a look at her fab sketch:

I completely messed up this week and created a card for next week instead! I had to scramble and create a last minute card for the correct sketch. But it means I’m ahead for next week with my card already made!

The stamp set I chose to ink up for my card was the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. I also used dies from the Sending Dies. My flowers have been inked up in Pool Party, Highland Heather and Crushed Curry Inks. The leaves have been stamped with Granny Apple Green Ink. All images have been fussy cut out and raised up with Dimensionals.

The Basic White Cardstock that my images were adhered to was flicked with Pool Party Ink from the Dark Pool Party Blend. I also shaded part of the card under the flowers to soften the white cardstock.

I cut out the die cut sentiment and layered it over the stamped sentiment. Both of these are placed over a piece of Basic White and Pool Party Cardstock diecuts – also cut with the Sending Dies.

Three Basic Rhinestones and a Brushed Brass Butterfly was added for the bling-y feel I like to add to my cards.

As always, the team have created awesome cards that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #368

Hey Everyone

Had a bit of time today to play along with the latest challenge at Global Design Project. This week the challenge is a CASE challenge. The team are CASEing this gorgeous card below from the super talented Stesha Bloodhart.

I kept my card fairly neutral toned like Stesha’s and added pops of colours with the Cajun Craze ink I added to the Sunflowers. These sunflowers and leaves are from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set. I have more need for a birthday card so I added a sentiment from the You’re a Peach Stamp Set instead of one of the sentiments in the sunflowers set.

I added pieces of DSP from the Abigail Rose DSP pack. I roughed up the edges of both pieces of paper and used a dauber to add some Crumb Cake Ink also.

To add extra layers, I cut a square of Basic White Cardstock and some banner die cuts with the Stylish Shapes Dies. These die cuts were placed under the flowers and a Linen Thread bow was added.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #629

Hey Everyone

It’s new challenge time at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

One of my fav “winged” stamp sets is a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Free As A Bird. These birds are perfect for colouring and I really love the artwork in them.

I’ve paired my birds with flowery and leafy images from the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. I lightly coloured the flowers and leaves so that the birds stood out against the foliage. The sentiment was one I had stamped and lay discarded on my desk. I have forgotten what set it was from at the time of typing this… The DSP I’ve used is also retired, it’s called Heart & Home DSP. I matted this with Pool Party Cardstock and layered it on a Basic White card base.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful projects. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
