Freshly Made Sketches #481

Hey Everyone

When you’re stuck for a layout, try finding a fabulous sketch challenge like this weeks one at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch has been designed by the super talented Cecile Ribon

.

The stamp set I chose to use for my card was the Dressed To Impressed Stamp Set. I added Highland Heather highlights to the flowers, lipstick and stiletto with my light and dark blends. I then combined added Smoky Slate Blends to each of these images. I took my Colour Lifter and removed some of the colour from all images to give them a washed look.

The background of card base has been given a quick colour with my Soft Sea Foam Blend. I added some Whisper White Cardstock circles and probably spent waaaaay to long arranging my images until I ended up with this layout.

Freshly Made Sketches #480

Hey Everyone

Don’t you love a cool sketch? I do! I adore this sketch from one of our fabulous designers at Freshly Made Sketches, Jennifer Brum. I also adore her – even if she does put me to shame with all the walking she does…..

I had some time on the weekend to play around with my blends. What better stamp set to use than the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set when you want some colouring time?

The largest shell was coloured firstly with the Crumb Cake Blends. I then took the Dark Soft Suede Blend and added a darker shade around the edge of the shell and in the definition lines. I wasn’t happy with just those colours, so I added some Pool Party to the mix. The medium sized shell was coloured with the Pool Party Blends and the Light Basic Black Blend in the creases. The smallest shell was coloured with a combination of Dark Crumb Cake and both Soft Suede Blends. Once all three shells were dry, they were then given some Wink of Stella to add a shine to them.

I used the Curvy Dies to create the die cut in the middle of my Whisper White Cardstock. I had the idea to add some Linen Trim to the edge of the die cut. I ran some Tombow Glue along the cardstock and carefully glued down the Linen Trim. For once I didn’t end up with sticky fingers and accidentally leave glue residue on the card. I also added a Linen Trim bow under the cluster of shells.

After placing everything on the card, I felt the background needed a little something extra, so I lifted the large and small shell and added the ink splatter stamp with Crumb Cake Ink and randomly stamped it. Any mishap with the stamping, on an already stuck card base, was covered by creatively placing the shells to hide it.

Freshly Made Sketches #479

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday and that means we have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch is a fun one and has been designed by the super talented Kim Singdahlsen.

I have a new-to-me stamp set called Art Gallery Stamp Set. This set is a two-step stamping set. The base colour I’ve stamped my flower in is Gray Granite Ink. I then stamped over the top with the second part of the stamp image with Basic Gray Ink. I fussy cut the flowers out and added Metallic Pearls to the centre of both flowers to make them bling-y. The leaves I’ve added to my card have been stamped with Mossy Meadow Ink – these have also been fussy cut out.

The piece of background cardstock was discarded from a previous project. I had randomly stamp this piece in Smoky Slate Ink with the geographic background stamp from Prized Peony Stamp Set. I thought it would work well as a background for these blooms. I added a torn piece of Whisper White Cardstock and a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock to fit the design of the sketch.

I also added a strip of Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim that I have stretched apart and adhered with Glue Dots. The sentiment I added is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set.

Just Add Ink #546

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you to play along with at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is to:

This is such an interesting challenge and one that tested me. I had to google exactly what it meant.

My card has been created with the Garage Gear Dies as the main focus on my card. I had a senior moment (even though I’m not at the senior age) and forgot to add the pretty butterflies I created to add on the card. I only realised after I’d photographed it and loaded it to our page. Too late to add them and take another photograph after a long day at work….

To create the background I took a die cut Forever Gold Laser-Cut Speciality piece and daubed randomly over the top of the white side with Soft Suede Ink. I then took the script words stamp from the Very Versailles Stamp Set and stamped twice in Crumb Cake Ink. To finish off the background piece of cardstock, I took a Blending Brush and added Crumb Cake Ink to the roughed up edges. I matted this with a piece of Pool Party Cardstock, also roughed up.

I took some Linen Thread and stapled the ends of the thread to the cardstock and wrapped the other end around my cardstock. I then stuck it all together and adhered the layers to a Sahara Sand Cardstock base. The pearls that finished off my card have been coloured with the Light Bermuda Bay Blend.

Freshly Made Sketches #477

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch has been designed the extremely talented Jen Mitchell. Click here to take you to her blog and see her wonderful creations.

The Wildly Happy Stamp Set hasn’t seen much ink, so I decided to rectify that and add some elephant images to my card lightly coloured with the Light Smoky Slate Blend. The leafy DSP I’ve added to the background is from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper Pack. I then decided to add a single fussy cut tree from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set.

Freshly Made Sketches #474

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the latest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Judy Rozema.

The card I’ve created features the Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set called Flowering Blooms. After I stamped the images with Black Memento Ink, I gave the flowers colour with So Saffron and Mango Melody Blends. I then fussy cut them out. For the background, I took the Light So Saffron Blend and coloured the cardstock to create a watercoloured type base.

The DSP I’ve added to the card base is from the True Love DSP pack. I had the Postage Punch Sahara Sand Cardstock shape already sitting on my desk, so I decided to add this to my card. I then cut the die sentiment from the Always Dies and added it to the card. The stamped sentiment was also laying on my desk and I trimmed the full sentiment to be just “your kindness” to go with the die cut. I added three Gold Metallic Pearls and a Linen Trim to finish off my card.

The Clean Team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #542

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is an inspiration picture challenge. Take a look at the inspiration pic we have for you:

I wanted to created a background with texture like the stone wall in the inspiration pic. I gave some texture to the Whisper White Cardstock with the Painted 3D Embossing Folder. I then took some Smoky Slate Ink and my Blending Brush and added touches of ink to the raised areas on the cardstock to give it a marbled look.

The stamp set I’ve used is the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set. I applied colour directly to the palm tree images with my markers, huffed on them and stamped them on to cardstock. I then fussy cut the images out. The flowers have been coloured with Flirty Flamingo Blends and fussy cut out. The sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set.

Freshly Made Sketches #472

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch in town at Freshly Made Sketches and this week it’s been designed by me!

I’ve kept the sketch simple but maybe not my card so much….

I love me some details and some layers and this probs shows on my card. I’ve gone with neutral colours for my flowers. The images are from the Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set called Forever and Always. I ADORE these flowers and leaves. I got my watercolouring on with this card and gave the flowers colour with Crumb Cake Ink, and for more definition, Soft Suede Ink. The leaves were given a light colour with Mint Macaron Ink. The tiny flowers were coloured with Soft Suede Ink.

The Whisper White Cardstock card base has been embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and I added some strips of Crumb Cake and Basic Black Cardstock. These have been die cut with the matching dies to the stamp set. They’re called Always Dies. This die set also cuts out the sentiment I’ve added to my card. This really is a favourite bundle. Three Metallic Pearls finished off my card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketch have created wonderful cards using my sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Global Design Project #277

Hey Everyone

I was looking around for challenges today and came across the prettiest colour challenge. The challenge is at the Global Design Project Challenge.

I adore these colours together and thought they would work really well with the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set. I had a watercolouring day today and watercoloured all the images with the challenge colours. The background is also watercoloured with Blushing Bride Ink.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #540

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you to play along with. This week is a colour challenge. Take a look at the combo we have for you:

The stamp set I’ve chosen to use for this challenge is the Free As A Bird Stamp Set. Each of my birds have been given a light colour with the Seaside Spray Blends and Misty Moonlight Blends. The branches and leaves in the image have been given colour with the Just Jade Blends. To add Blushing Bride, I watercoloured the tiny flowers with Blushing Bride Ink. I also added a Blushing Bride Foil circle punch and layered this under the images.

The sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set. To add some texture to the Whisper White Cardstock, I embossed the cardstock with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. Because you can never have too many details, I added some Bakers Twine.

The girls at Just Add Ink have created wonderful inspiration for you. Head over to the Just Add Ink challenge and see what they’ve created.
