Just Add Ink #558

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday! We have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a sketch challenge. Take a look at the sketch we have for you.

I like using stamp sets I haven’t used in a while – especially my floral stamp sets. The Forever Blossoms Stamp Set is one I haven’t used in a while. These blossoms are fun to colour and to fussy cut out. I’ve coloured my flowers in a combination of So Saffron and Mango Melody Blends. The leaves have been given colour with the Soft Succulent Blends.

The DSP I’ve used in the background is from the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. I’ve chosen this mainly black paper so it allows my blooms to pop. I’ve layered the DSP on a textured piece of Basic White Cardstock. The cardstock has been embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set. A bow of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding and three Gold Metallic Pearls finished off my card.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches488 #

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our fab sketch has been designed by our wonderfully talented Jen Mitchell.

I wanted to use the Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set for my card, mainly because of this sentiment. Got a few friends that fit the sweet thing title.

The strawberries have been stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with the Real Red Blends. When colouring these strawberries, I coloured with the Light Real Red Blend over the whole image. I then took the Dark Real Red Blend and added colour around the edges of the image. I then took my Colour Lifter and took some of the colour from the centre. I’m hoping this gives them a life like look. The leaves and stem of the strawberries are coloured with my Soft Succulent Blends. The little flowers have been coloured with the Light and Dark Pale Papaya Blends. All images were then fussy cut out.

The DSP I’ve used in the background is from the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. To finish off the card I added 3 clear Elegant Faceted Gems. A little bit of bling, but not too flashy.

The team have created wonderful cards using this weeks sketch. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #487

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch is a slimline card sketch. Our sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Timko. Jen’s card are always so lovely and so creative. I love her sketches just as much as her cards.

When I get a challenge to create a slimline card, I try and fill the space with as many images as I can. These bird images from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set fill the space perfectly. I coloured the birds with the Light and Dark Poppy Parade Blends. I then took the Light Basic Black Blend and added some definition around the edge and wings on all birds. I took my retired White Gel Pen and added a highlight to their bellies and beaks.

I coloured the leaves and branches of the stem with Crumb Cake and Soft Succulent Blends. The flowers of this branch have been coloured with the Pale Papaya Blends. The fussy cut flower is also from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set. This flower has been coloured with my Pale Papaya Blends and the centre with the Light Poppy Parade Blend. By adding Poppy Parade to the centre of the flower, it tied the flower and birds together.

To soften the background of the Basic White Cardstock, I took some Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush and shaded the background. I took some White Baker Twine and added this to my card with a bow nestled in the branches. The sentiment was placed after everything was adhered to finish off my card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome slimline cards. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Paper Adventures Blog Hop – In the New

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog!

I’m a little bit excited that I was asked to be the Guest Designer at my crafty friend, Kelly Kent’s, team hop this month. The Paper Adventures Team are showcasing new products in their projects. Lucky there’s a new catalogue out and I have new Stampin’ Up! products on my desk.

If you know my cards, you will know that I love everything floral. The Pansy Patch Stamp Set was one that entered by shopping cart without a second thought.

I’ve kept my card pretty simple to let the pansies and sentiment be the main focus. The pansies have been stamped with three different stamps. The base stamp was stamped off once on scratch paper with Polished Pink Ink. I then changed stamps and stamped the second layer in full strength Polished Pink Ink. This gave the outside of the flower a darker colour.I then stamped the centre of the flower in Black Memento Ink.

The leaves were stamped with two stamps. The first layer was stamped in Evening Evergreen Ink and the more detailed stamp in Black Memento Ink. The leaves were then fussy cut out and layered under the flowers.

The strip of DSP I’ve added to my card is from the Hand-Penned Memories and More Pack. I added some Crumb Cake Bakers Twine from the Bakers Twine Essential Pack and tied a bow. Three Silver Metallic Pearls finished off my card.

The next card maker on the hop is the very lovely and very creative Narelle Simm. I love it when I come across another Narelle, there’s not many of us out there! Click here or on the button below to check out her creativity and to continue along the hop.

Thanks for stopping.

Freshly Made Sketches #386

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch for you to play along with over at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch hostess has been designed by the incredibly talented Jacquie Southas.

Here’s this weeks fab sketch:

I chose Jacquie’s sketch to use some of this gorgeous DSP from the Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper pack. This pack is ultra pretty with elegant touches of foil throughout each of the papers – maybe that’s why it named Simply Elegant….

I added leaf die cut from the Forever Flourishing Dies. I then cut the die cut sentiment from the Always Dies and combined it with a stamped sentiment from the Forever & Always Stamp Set. I heat embossed this sentiment on Basic Black Cardstock.

To tie in the gold foil from the DSP, I punched some Gold Foil circles with various Circle Punches and rolled them into flowers. I used Tombow to adhere them to the card.

Here’s what I created:

The clean team at Freshly Made Sketch have created gorgeous cards that will inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Just Add Ink #554

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and welcome to a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is for you to:

This challenge made me pause for more than it should’ve…. In the end I went with green and gold. The green I’ve added to my card is in the flowers I’ve used. I’ve used Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen Inks to stamp the flowers from the Art Gallery Stamp Set. The centre of the flowers have been coloured with the Dark Mango Melody Blend. I fussy cut both of these flowers out and adhered them to a gold die cut from the retired Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper.

The DSP I’ve layered in the background also has gold in it. It’s from the Simply Elegant Designer Series Paper pack. I couldn’t stop at just that. I added some Gold Metallic Pearls and some gold bakers twine. So basically my card is gold galore!

Freshly Made Sketches #485

Hey Everyone

We have a fabulous sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the truly talented Judy Rozema.

The card has created has been made with the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set. I coloured these flowers to look like Gerbera’s. The blends I used are some of the new in colours from the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022Annual Catalogue – Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent. The colours I used to add definition in the creases are Highland Heather and Evening Evergreen Blends. For the centre of the flowers I added colour with my Smoky Slate Blends and Mango Melody Blends. Both flowers were fussy cut out. I coloured up some leaves, also from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set, with both the Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen Blends. The Evening Evergreen leafy die cuts were cut with the Sunflower Dies.

The textured background was created with the Painted Texture Embossing Folder. I really love the texture this folder gives to cardstock. To create the banner to match the sketch, I cut a piece of Vellum Cardstock and added this to my card. I then took some Whisper White Linen Thread and looped this around my card, stapling it to the card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve designed.

Freshly Made Sketches #482

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This weeks cool sketch has been designed by our wonderfully talented NZer, Karren Johnson. Pop over to Karren’s blog and see what she’s designed with her sketch:

When you have a weekend away and that’s your usual crafting time, you go quick and easy by colouring some DSP and fussy cutting the images out. The designers series paper I’ve used is from the True Love DSP pack. The blends I coloured my images with were the Balmy Blue Blends. I then took the Light Night of Navy Blend to the centre of the flower to add some depth. The leaves have been coloured with the Mint Macaron Blends.

I wanted a birthday sentiment, so I’ve added one from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome and totally different cards with Karren’s sketch. Pop over to Freshly Made Sketches and check them out.

Just Add Ink #550

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week is a colour challenge. Have a look at the colours we have for you to play along with:

So this is a colour combo that I would have NEVER tried if not for this challenge. I have to say that I absolutely adore it! I’ve kept my card mostly white with small amounts of the challenge colours.

I’ve chosen leaves stamped from the Forever Fern Stamp Set. The leaves were lightly coloured with Shaded Spruce and fussy cut out. The butterflies are from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set. These have been coloured with both Poppy Parade and Petal Pink Inks. The sentiment I’ve used is from the Forever Friend Stamp Set. I added some ink splatters to the background – these are from the Forever Fern Stamp Set also.

The team at Just Add Ink have created lovely cards using these challenge colours. Take a look at the challenge and see what they’ve created.
