Just Add Ink #570

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Friday and the newest challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a colour challenge.

When I first saw these colours, I immediately thought of a nautical card, but I created one last week, so I decided to change it up.

I inked up the Plentiful Plants Stamp Set for the first time with a combination of Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana Inks. After a bit of fussy cutting, some die cutting with the Perfect Plants Dies and played around with layering – my card came together.

To add some interest to the background I took a Blending Brush and some Coastal Cabana Ink and shaded the areas behind my plants.

I chose two sentiments, from the Plentiful Plants Stamp Set, and placed them over both pots.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards using the challenge colours. Head over to the challenge and see what the team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #499

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the super talented Linda Callahan.

It’s been a while since i used the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set. I inked it up for Linda’s fab sketch.

My sunflowers have been given colours with the Pale Papaya and Cajun Craze Blends. I added colour to the centre of the flowers with the Smoky Slate and the Light Basic Black Blends. Rather than go for green leaves, I gave them colour with the Smoky Slate Blends.

I shaded the background cardstock with Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush. The sentiment has been embossed on Basic Black Cardstock. This sentiment is also from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set. One lone Basic White leafy diecut was laying on my desk. This was added to the card just because I could. This was cut with the matching Sunflower Dies.

Some bling was added with three Basic Rhinestones.

The Freshly Made Sketches Design Team have created wonderful cards using this weeks sketch, so make sure you head over to the challenge and check them out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #497

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the fabulously talented Jacquie Southas.

The stamp set I’ve used for my card is called Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set. I stamped the flower images twice and fussy cut them out. They’ve been coloured with the Highland Heather Blends and the leaves with Soft Sea Foam Blends.

To add some softness to the background of my card, I blended some Pool Party Ink with a Blending Brush to the cardstock. I added a torn strip of Gray Granite Cardstock down the edge of the card and a strip of Gorgeous Grape DSP under the sentiment. I added three Basic Rhinestones around the card as I love me some bling.

The girls at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Less Is More Challenge #448

Hey Everyone

I had some spare time on the weekend and created the following card for the CASE challenge at Less Is More Challenges. The pretty card that the team at Less Is More are CASEing is the following card:

I chose to take the tile effect from the card and place three squares of Basic White Cardstock on my card. The stamp set I’ve used is a Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set – called Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set. The flowers have been coloured with a combination of blue Blends. The centre of the blooms have been coloured with the Dark Mango Melody Blend. The leaves were given a quick colour with the Soft Seam Foam Blends.

The strip of DSP I’ve added to my card is from the Hand-Penned Memories & More Pack. This was actually the starting point for my card. I then chose blue flowers from this DSP.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #302

Hey Everyone

Love a Sunday, spending time in my craft room colouring, fussy cutting and half watching Netflix series while I create. I’ve created this card for the sketch challenge at Global Design Project. Take a look at their fab sketch:

Combining stamp sets make your sets more versatile. I like that the artwork in the Sailing Home and Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set are similar – so I love pairing them for my cards.

The lighthouse is from the Sailing Home Set. The lighthouse has been coloured with the Night of Navy Blends and Smoky Slate Blends.

The shells I’ve layered around my lighthouse are from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. I’ve coloured them in a combination of Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Night of Navy Blends.

I found an off cut piece of retired White Flax Ribbon sitting in the messier corner of my desk (I have more than one messy corner…..). I pulled apart one end of the ribbon and tied a piece of Linen Thread around it. I then tucked the other end under the shells and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

The strips of DSP I layered on my card are from the In Good Taste DSP. I used a piece of light woodgrain DSP for the background so my images would stand out.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #496

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is the fabulous and talented Judy Rozema.

I really adore Judy’s sketch! I chose to decorate the panels with the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You may have noticed this is one of my favourite sets because of the many times I’ve used these images.

I’ve coloured my shells with a combination of Pool Party, Soft Suede and Pool Party Blends. I also went to town with my Colour Lifter to remove ink and harsh lines. The little leaf stems have been stamped in Pool Party Ink and fussy cut out.

The DSP panel has a weave print in it in Crumb Cake. This DSP is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack. I liked this one for my card as I felt it matched the scene I was going for.

For the other two panels, I stamped the images with the large and small stamps, that are designed to be used to colour two of the shells, as watercoloured splotches in Crumb Cake Ink. Once the ink was dry, I took a sentiment and Black Memento Ink and stamped the sentiment over the watercolour typed background.

I then took three pieces of Linen Thread and plaited the twine and stapled one end at the top of the card and knotted the bottom of the other end adhered it to the cardstock with Glue Dots.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using Judy’s sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #495

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches my crafty friends. The super talented and amazingly creative Amy O’Neill has designed this awesome sketch.

I saw this sketch and in one second decided I wanted to use the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set. These super cool images are perfect to layer and I think kind of match the sketch. I’ve coloured the images with Highland Heather Blends. I also took my Colour Lifter and really diluted the ink. The flowers have been given colour with my Bermuda Bay Blends. I also lifted a lot of the colour of them to give them a washed look.

The background of my card was shaded with Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush. If you don’t have these brushes yet, you need them. They are so easy to use and give amazing coverage. I then took the Dark Smoky Slate Blend and put the nib in the edge of the lid and flicked the ink on my card.

For a little more embellishment, I added some Crinkled Whisper White Ribbon and some Silver Metallic Pearls.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #494

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week it was my turn to design the sketch. I forgot and had to whip up a quick sketch and quick card to go with it.

The Artistically Inked Stamp Set featured on my card. I stamped up the flowers in Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather Inks. The leaves have been stamped in Mint Macaron Ink. All images were fussy cut out.

To create the background rectangle type shape, I used a gold foil die cut from the Expressions In Ink Ephemera Pack. I also pressed out some gold leaves from the same sheet in the pack. The sentiment that has been added to my card is from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set.

The pretty little sequins that I have added (3 as always) are a little bonus in the Expressions In Ink Ephemera Pack. They actually change colour with the light.

A quick and easy card for forgetful person like me!

The team have created wonderful cards that they created with my sketch. Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve come up with.

Freshly Made Sketches #491

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday and a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch hostess is the fabulously talented Kim Singdalhlsen.

Here’s her great sketch

The You’re A Peach Designer Series Paper not only has gorgeous pics of peaches and leaves that are waiting to be die cut or fussy cut out, the other side of the DSP has pretty patterns and colours.

For my card, I fussy cut peaches and leaf-y images and layered them on some spotted DSP strips. The card base i layered all of my images on is Sahara Sand Cardstock.

I’ve stamped two sentiments for my card. Both are from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set. My birthday sentiment was stamped on Basic White Cardstock and the second sentiment was stamped on Sahara Sand Cardstock.

I also fussy cut a flower image and placed this above the peaches at the top of my card.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards using this weeks sketch. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #490

Hey Everyone

It’s new sketch challenge time at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is Jen Brum – even though we’ve never met, I reckon we’d be the best of friends if she decided to move to my side of the world and learned how to scooch to be my height….

I’m trying to revisit stamp sets that I haven’t used in a while – just to make sure I get my use out of them. The Tasteful Touches Stamp Set got a bit of a workout for todays card. So did my fussy cutting skills.

The flowers have been coloured with a combination of Mango Melody and So Saffron Blends. I added the Dark Mango Melody Blend to the centre of the flowers and to add depth to the petals. The leaves were given a very quick colour with the Light Soft Succulent Blend.

The stripe-y DSP I’ve added to the background is from the Hand-Penned Memories & More Pack. It was chosen because of So Saffron and Basic White stripe. I added thin strip of Basic Black to the edge of the DSP just to make the flower pop.

The card base was given some detail with a Blending Brush and some So Saffron Ink. Three Gold Metallic Pearls were added for that bit of bling.

The girls at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards with Jen’s sketch. Make sure you head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
