Freshly Made Sketches #513

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and another sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is our uber talented cardmaker and mountain walker Jen Brum!

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve inked up the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. You all know how much I love it, but I’ve been playing with new products and also completing some Christmas cards.

My shells have been coloured with a combination of Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry Blends. I then chose my DSP and cardstock to match these colours.

The background was given Pool Party Ink with the Blending Brush and then stamped with the ink splatters stamp from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set.

Here’s my card:

The team have created awesome cards that will no doubt inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #512

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches for you to play along with. This week our sketch has been designed by the super talented Kim Singdahlsen.

The inspiration and starting point for this card came from the tree that Kim added to the sketch. Straight away I decided the tree die cut made with the Majestic Mountain Dies would work well. Initially I was thinking that I would make a Christmas card but decided to change it up and go with a baby card instead.

I haven’t made a baby card in ages, so I took out the Count On Me Stamp Set and coloured up this very cute bear image with Crumb Cake Blends. My Color Lifter got a real workout so that my bear ended up with a watercoloured look. The heart was coloured with the Bermuda Bay Blends. Again the heart got a workout with the Color Lifter.

Looking for DSP with matching tones to my tree and heart, I found these pieces of DSP from the Penguin Playmates DSP pack. This DSP was available for a short time during Sale-A-Bration, but is now retired. I matted both pieces with Soft Succulent Cardstock.

I added a White Crinkled Seam Binding ow and three Elegant Faceted Gems to the Basic White Cardstock. I also added some Sahara Sand Ink shading to the background with the Blending Brush.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards with this weeks sketch. Make sure you head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Blessings Of Home Card – part II

Hey Everyone

This is the second card I made today while I had the Blessings of Home Stamp Set open on my desk. My previous card featured a cluster of flowers and leaves. This image I’ve used is the smaller one in the set. The flowers have been coloured with Fresh Freesia and Rich Razzleberry Blends. As with my other card, I took the Dark Smoky Slate Blend and added shading to the centre of the flowers and leaves. The leaves were mainly coloured with my Pool Party Blends.

The image has a matching die so that you don’t have to fussy cut it out. I’ve also paired the image with some leafy die cuts from the Flowers of Home Dies in Pool Party.

My card base is Pool Party and on this, I layered a piece of Basic White Cardstock and the oh-so-pretty DSP from the Heart and Home DSP pack – both of these layers have roughed up edges.

At the moment, I’m addicted to Kraft Cardstock, so I added a panel of this and roughed up the edges. I then layered a circle die cut and on this, I placed my sentiment, collection of flowers and leaves and a torn piece of Fresh Freesia Cardstock. Every piece of cardstock, no matter how thin, is kept for this very reason.

The three little black gems are also new to me. These are called Classic Matte Dots and will be available along with all the products from the Heart & Home Suite in January.

Flowers of Home Card

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a weekend away and have come home to ink up my new stamp set called the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. This set is part of the Home Project Suite that comes with coordinating dies called the Flowers of Home Dies. These products will be available in the January 2022 Mini Catalogue.

The gorgeous woodgrain DSP I’ve added to my card is from the Heart and Home Designer Series Paper pack. This paper pack is part of the Home Project Suite, also available in January 2022.

The flowers have been given colour with a combination of Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Pale Papaya Blends. I then took the Dark Smoky Slate Blend and added depth to the centre of each flower. The leaves also had a bit of Smoky Slate Blend treatment.

Once I was happy with the amount of colour of wanted for the blooms, I took the matching die to the image and cut it out. I cut the image in half and layered it around my sentiment. The sentiment has been cut with a label die from the Tasteful Label Dies. These dies also cut the banner and circle die cuts I added to my card.

A Linen Thread bow finished off my card.

Just Add Ink #580

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is a colour challenge. Take a look at the pretty colours we have you for:

I wanted to challenge myself with these colours and use the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set with these rich colours.

My card started with the pretty Evening Evergreen and gold DSP from the Expressions In Ink DSP pack. I then took some Shimmery White Cardstock and watercoloured the background with a light touch of Soft Sea Foam Ink. I cut two circle punches for my images to be layered on.

The images from the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set have been watercoloured with a combination of Blushing Bride and Evening Evergreen Inks. I then added touches of gold with some gold leaves, gold pearls and gold twine. The fussy sentiment finished off my card.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous inspiration for you. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #511

Hey Everyone

There’s a new sketch to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Linda Callahan.

Take a look a her fabulous sketch:

I had these pinecones already stamped laying on my desk. Love using up discarded images from other projects. However, using up these two pinecones, didn’t make a dent in the amount of stuff that is waiting to be used up! These leaf and pinecone images are from the Christmas Season Stamp Set. The pinecones are stamped in Soft Suede and Sahara Sand Inks. The leaves have been stamped in Evening Evergreen Ink.

The texture that I’ve given my Sahara Sand Cardstock is from the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. I wanted a detailed background beneath the images. I created this by taking my Light Pale Papaya Blend and added colour to the cardstock. I then decided I wanted some matching ribbon. I didn’t have one on hand, so I took the same blend and White Crinkled Seam Binding and gave it colour.

To tie in more of the Pale Papaya, I added a torn offcut of Pale Papaya Cardstock under the sentiment. I then added three Basic Rhinestones for the bling I wanted for my Christmas card.

Here’s my card

Global Design Project #316

Hey Everyone

A weekend at home and I was finally able to catch up with some crafting and even managed to create a card for the latest challenge at Global Design Project.

This weeks challenge is to CASE the Designer, the super talented Stesha Bloodhart! Stesha makes divine cards and as you can see below, the card we are CASEing is really divine.

I don’t mind a bit of roughed up edges for my cards. It creates a bit of a vintage look that I love.

I roughed up the edges of both the Basic White Cardstock and DSP from the Penguin Playmates DSP. I then had to hand cut the circle as I have no idea where my circles dies have hidden themselves – the roughed up edges hide the fact that it’s not a perfect circle. To create a somewhat snowy background, I flicked the Dark Soft Suede Blend on to the cardstock and used a Blending Brush to add to some shading about the cardstock.

I took some Kraft Cardstock and cut two trees with the Majestic Mountain Dies. These dies are my go-to when I want trees for Christmas cards. I then stamped the snowman from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. I gave the snowman colour with my Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Fresh Freesia Blends.

The sentiment I’ve fussy cut is from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set. This sentiment is one stamp, but I’ve cut it in to two sentiments so that I could layer them separately – I think it creates balance to my layers.

The final thing I added was a Gold Ribbon and Linen Thread detail.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #510

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our totally cool sketch has been designed by the fabulously talented and one awesome chick – Jen Mitchell.

The card I’ve created is a Christmas card. The stamp set I have chosen is the Tidings & Trimmings Stamp Set. This stamp set lends itself well to my love of colouring. I’ve coloured one of the stars with the Smoky Slate Blends. The matching die set to the Tidings & Trimmings is called the Christmas Trimmings Dies. The two die cuts have been cut with these dies and the sentiment is from this stamp set also.

The background of my card has been created with a Blending Brush and Pool Party Ink. I then took the Dark Smoky Slate Blend and flicked nib of the blend in the lid to create splatters across the cardstock.

I’ve added Basic Gray Cardstock as a mat beneath the Basic White Cardstock and added a strip across the centre the card. I also added a Vellum Cardstock panel so you can still see the background I created.

A bow made with White Crinkled Seam Binding bow and some Silver Metallic Pearls were added to appease my love of embellishments.

I love all the cards the design team have created, head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #508

Hey Everyone

It’s new sketch challenge time at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch designer is the fabulously talented Jacquie Southas.

I’m still on a Christmas card roll. Mainly because they’re my newest stamps sets and I’m enjoying playing with them.

The stamp set I’ve used today is called the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set. The bells have been stamped in Soft Succulent, Soft Sea Foam and Evening Evergreen Inks. Each of the bells has been fussy cut out. I added a Basic White Cardstock leaf die cut, cut the with the Artistic Dies, behind them. The leaf die cut has been cut in three different places so that I could layer them behind the bells. The Basic White Cardstock in the background has been coloured with the Light Soft Sea Foam Blend to create a watercolour wash.

The DSP I’ve added to the card is from the Gingerbread & Peppermint Designer Series Paper pack. I then added a piece of Evening Evergreen Cardstock at an angle as a mat behind the main panel.

The sentiment I’ve layered on my card is from the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set. This sentiment has been trimmed from the original sentiment.

A Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon bow was added as well as three Basic Rhinestones.

As always the team have created awesome cards to inspire you. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #576

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This week the challenge for us is to:

I think of myself as a lazy stamper, so creating a card with a moveable element tested me…I had to rely on Pinterest on how to make a moving element card as it’s been years since I created anything that moved.

The tutorial I came across was this one from Meg Loven. Instead of a pooch, I chose a yacht from the Sailing Home Stamp Set that moves across the card from behind the lighthouse. I created waves with strips of Basic White Cardstock inked up with the Blending Brush to cover the punch hole. I’m still unsure if I love this so I may end up taking those waves off. The sandy beach was also created with the Blending Brush and Crumb Cake Ink.

The shells are from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set. These have been coloured with the Crumb Cake and Bermuda Bay Blends. The boat has also been coloured with these two Blends. The lighthouse was given colour with a combination of Smoky Slate and a touch of Bermuda Bay Blends.

To make the yacht move I added some Linen Thread to the tab to use an an anchor point for moving the yacht.

The team have created awesome projects for this challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
