Global Design Project #336

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at the Global Design Project is to CASE the Designer. The designer is the amazing Angela Meiritz-Reid. If you don’t know Angela, she is super talented and an awesome chick who gets my Aussie sense of humour.

Take a look at her gorgeous card the design team is CASEing

The stamp set I used for my card is the Dressed To Impress Stamp Set. Like Angela’s card, I added some background stamping in black on the Whisper White Cardstock. I cut a circle die cut with my circle dies and layered my images on them.

The images have been coloured with a variety of blends – Pool Party, Lovely Lipstick, Basic Black and Smoky Slate.

Angela is a lover of the silver twine from the Simply Elegant Trim pack, so I HAD to add it to my card. Three Rhinestone Jewels were also added because it has to be an odd number on any card.

Here’s my take on her card:

The Paper Player #584

Hey Everyone

The Paper Players has a fab sketch, designed by LeAnne, to play along with as this weeks challenge. The Paper Players Challenge was one of the first I played along with when I started entering challenges. They have great challenges and an awesome design team.

Here’s their sketch:

I love the balance of sketches like these. They’re really easy to create with as all the work with done with design.

I decided to use the Easter Friends Stamp Set to create an Easter card for a friend. These cute little images were made for colour and fussy cutting. I did both with all of my yellow blends thrown at them and cut them out.

I embossed the three panels of Whisper White Cardstock behind these images with the Gingham Embossing Folder. To add a lit bit of foliage to the scene, I added a tree die cut from the Majestic Mountain Dies that was laying on my desk.

I then created 3 eggs with some Gold Foil and Crushed Curry Cardstock. These eggs were punched with a retired balloon punch that I trimmed the tip to make an oval shape like an egg. I then hand cut strips of foil and cardstock to make them a bit fancy.

Here’s the card I created:

Freshly Made Sketches #528

Hey Everyone

Been ages since I’ve created for Freshly Made Sketches and I have to say I have missed it! I have been hanging to get back it in crafting and my fussy cutting. My fussy cutting skills got a work out with this card to test if I could still do it after my injury. Pleased to say I’m back on the scissors with a vengeance!

This week our sketch has been designed by the ultra talented Jacquie Southas!

The stamp I’ve used on my card is perfect for my scissor-work. This set is called Friendly Hello and has a wonderful mix of images to colour. I’ve given the bird some colour with my Pool Party and Bermuda Bay bends. The flowers I’ve added have been coloured with the Fresh Freesia and Smoky Slate Blends. The Smoky Slate was added around the centre of the flower to give it depth.

The leaves I’ve added were stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink. These leaves were fussy cut out and layered behind my bird image. I’ve also stamped up some little leaf-y stems in Gorgeous Grape Ink and fussy cut them out.

To add some interest to the background of the Thick Whisper White Cardstock, I shaded the cardstock with some Pool Party Ink and the ink splatters stamp from the Friendly Hello Stamp Set.

All of the images were layered on three strips of DSP and adhered to the cardstock base.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome cards with this sketch. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Global Design Project #334

Hey Everyone

It’s been ages since I’ve posted! I’ve been out of action due to an injury but am keen to get back in to crafting.

I decided to get back on the tools by joining in the latest challenge at Global Design Project Challenge. This week they have a sketch challenge. Sketch challenges are my favourite as they give me the perfect starting point to creating a card.

Here’s their fab sketch:

I had one of the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration stamp sets sitting on my desk called Friendly Hello. I’ve lightly coloured the bird and floral image with my Smoky Slate and Fresh Freesia Blends. I took a leaf diecut that was sitting on my desk and cut it in half and layered this under my image. The leaf was cut with the Tropical Layers Dies. My collage and image were layered directly on to designer series paper. Both pieces of designer series paper I’ve added to my card are from the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper pack.

The sentiment I’ve used on my card is also from the Friendly Hello Stamp Set. I hand cut this sentiment out and layered it over the images and diecut. After all of this was stuck down I decided to add some Silver Twine from the Simply Elegant Trim pack and also three Basic Rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #586

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my first blog post for 2022 and the first challenge for Just Add Ink for 2022. We have a fun challenge for you and it’s a blog hop. Our team have created projects for this hop using the following theme:

When I saw this challenge, I knew I wanted to create a card with a combination of colours from the inspiration picture.

This card started with the DSP that I chose for my card as it had a lot the colours from the pic. This DSP is from the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper pack – which is part of a Sale-A-Bration incentive with the Friendly Hello Bundle. This bundle can be yours free when you spend $180 during the SAB period.

The stamp set these cut little images are from is called the Easter Friends Stamp Set. I’ve given them colour with a combination of all my yellow blends. You can’t get more summer-y than these yellow cuties.

Once I started layering all my elements together, I felt my card was a little plain, so I gave the Basic White Cardstock some Pool Party Ink shading and cut a Garden Green Cardstock tree diecut with the Majestic Mountain Dies.

A strip of ribbon from the 1/8″ Cotton Ribbon Pack. I knotted the ribbon and one end and tucked under the side of the cardstock. I then adhered the right side with glue dots.

Three little Polished Dots placed around the card finished it off.

Click here or on the button below to take you to the next person on the hop, my creative crafty friend Chantell!

We would love it if you could play along with our summer-y challenge. Once you complete hopping around, make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and link up a project.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #585

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink. This is the final challenge at Just Add Ink before our Christmas break. This week our challenge for you is to:

I’ve made little gifts for Christmas day and to give to friends. Inside the Christmas packaging is an individual chocolate – you can’t go wrong with chocolates, can you?

I’ve used a combination of current and retired products for my chockies. I’ve also combined non traditional colours for all three designs – I really love non traditional colours.

Here are my projects:

The girls at Just Add Ink have created wonderful projects that will no doubt inspire you, so head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #516

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches for you to play along with. This week is our last challenge before Christmas, so the perfect opportunity for you to get those last minute cards designed and sent out. This week it’s my turn to design the sketch – here’s the sketch I created for the challenge:

I recently purchased the Brilliant Rainbow Dies. These dies will be available in January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue. I created the rainbow with Vellum Cardstock. The clouds, also from the Brilliant Rainbow Dies, have been strategically placed to hide the Glue Dots I stuck the vellum down with.

The lighthouse, from the Sailing Home Stamp Set also hides the Glue Dots. The lighthouse has been coloured with my Cherry Cobbler Blends and quite a bit of Colour Lifter usage as well.

The Basic White Cardstock circle has been embossed with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder – another goodie available from the new Mini Catalogue.

I had almost adhered everything down when I decided to lift it all and add some Pool Party Ink to the background with the Blending Brush – just to give it some colour.

The team have created awesome cards with my sketch. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #584

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge over at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge for you is to:

I’ve decorated an Acetate Card Box for my project. The acetate box is perfect to decorate and add a gift card and chocolates for a loved one.

For the inside of the box, I added a sheet of Vellum Cardstock to the front so that you can’t see the gift card and chocolates through the box.

I added a piece of Kraft Cardstock around the edge of the box. This piece wasn’t measured it was just folded around from the front to the back.

On this cardstock I added a doily from the Heart & Home Doilies and two diecut leaves, cut with the Artistic Dies. The doilies will be available in the January – June 2022 Mini Catalogue.

Over this I layered a piece of White Frayed Ribbon- also available from the Mini Catalogue. Some bakers twine was wrapped about the box and tied in a bow.

The sentiment was stamped on Basic White Cardstock and cut with a die from the Tasteful Labels Dies set.

The team have created wonderful projects for this challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #515

Hey Everyone

There is a new sketch challenge to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch designer is the fabulously talented Karren Johnson. Karren’s sketch is as cool as the backgrounds she creates!

This card started with choosing a stamp set. It’s been ages since I’ve used the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set. I then chose the DSP. The strip of DSP is from the Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. The remainder of my colours were chosen to compliment the Blackberry Bliss in the paper.

The poinsettias were given colour with the Blackberry Bliss Blends. I took the Colour Lifter and diluted a lot of the ink so the colour wasn’t as solid. Both of these flowers were then fussy cut out.

The leaves were given colour with the Soft Succulent Blends. Again I used the Colour Lifter to lighten the colour. The leaves were also fussy cut out. The little branches of nuts were stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with Soft Suede Ink.

The Basic White Cardstock in the background was embossed with the Gingham Embossing Folder. I love the texture this folder gives the cardstock. This embossing folder will be available for customers to order from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue.

I matted this piece of cardstock with Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. I took an off cut piece of Kraft Cardstock that was sitting on my desk and added this under the DSP. Three Champagne Basic Rhinestone Jewels were then added for that bit of glitziness that I love.

Our team have created wonderful cards. Make sure you pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #582

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge over at Just Add Ink. This week our challenge is an inspiration picture challenge. Take a look at the gorgeous pic that you can choose colours, elements or images from:

I decided to throw a little bit of everything in from the inspiration pic. The Christmas tree (cut with the Majestic Mountain Dies), the plaid pattern (the deer is cut from the retired Peaceful Prints DSP), hessian (retired Braided Linen Trim) and a chalkboard (embossed white sentiment on Basic Black Cardstock).

Here’s my card:
